A Governance and Legal Policy Officer of the Centre for Democratic Development, Kojo Asante said he is disappointed with the NDC for what he terms hasty preparations in finding President John Millsďż˝ successor.
In about 48 hours after the death of President Mills, the National Executive Committee of the NDC met on Thursday and confirmed President John D. Mahama as the 2012 flagbearer of the ruling NDC.
But Asante told Citi News, it is too early to decide who leads the NDC in the December elections, especially when President Mahama has declared one week of mourning.
He said, I still think we should still show respect and grieve for this week. I am actually surprised that the party has already started its own internal processes to deal with the flagbearership because they really need to use this week to get the rank and file to pay their respect.
He also noted that the party could have set up their regional and constituency offices to allow people to go there and pay their respect nationwide, adding that I am a bit disappointed that theyve gone straight into these discussions and you can feel that its going to trigger all kinds of issues.
