The Director of Communications at the Presidency, Koku Anyidoho, has expressed surprise at the reaction of a leading member of the NPP to the inferences, spins and twists placed on his words by people who may be opposed to his political leaning, saying it was a sign of political immaturity.
Mr Anyidoho believes Kwabena Agyepong, who is in the political stratosphere, just like myself if I may use that word, has been around long enough to understand the game and should by now have trained himself to be patient and tolerant when such incidents occur.
Koku Anyidoho made the observation on Adom FMs Dwaso Nsem morning show on Tuesday November 27, 2012 while responding to Kwabena Agyepong, who is upset that his failure to comment at the beginning of the controversy surrounding the claim by some NDC activists that Nana Akufo-Addo was sacked from Oxford university had been interpreted to mean he agreed with the claim.
This failure was reported in the Informer newspaper as a sign that the claim was true, and his ire was further aroused by the Al-Hajj newspaper, which cited it as an example of moves by Ashantis in the NPP, especially former President Kufuor, to scuttle the presidential ambitions of Nana Akufo-Addo.
However, Koku Anyidoho believes Kwabena Agyepong who has been in this business maybe as long as I have been or maybe slightly longer than I have been should have taken the stories in his stride or found an appropriate way to respond instead of attacking and deriding the editors of the papers which report such stories.
Politics is about patience, tolerance. For Kwabena Agyepong to say look, theres a paper that has published one-two-three things about him so he is going to get very furious, come out, and be attacking people, it just tells you that Kwabena Agyepong after all these years has not matured in this game called politics.
If I were in the shoes of Kwabena Agyepong I would just walk past the story or for that matter if you have to respond you will find an appropriate way of respondingThat is what a communicator does. Unfortunately for him he is an engineer who found himself in the office of spokesperson, so I will not blame him if he hasnt got the art and sophistry of communicating.
