President John Mahama says various cities and urban centres risk grinding to a halt if nothing is done to control the human and vehicular traffic.
According to the President, there will not be any space for vehicular movement in the urban areas if measures are not taken to control the situation.
President Mahama has therefore called on the AMA and the Roads and Highway Authority to speed up work on the Bus Rapid Transport System in Accra. He also ordered the AMA to name and number all streets and houses in the metropolis within the next 18 months.
The President made this known when he launched the National Urban Policy Frame work and Action Plan at James Town in Accra. The project is aimed at coordinating and facilitating the comprehensive development of urban cities and towns in the country.
President Mahama however assured Ghanaians that his government will do everything possible to ensure a convenient atmosphere in the various cities and urban centres.
