Member of Parliament for Bimbilla and Deputy Minority Leader, Hon. Dominic Nitiwul believes it is time to hit the street to demonstrate vehemently against the cruel decision of the Mahama led administration not to reduce fuel price significantly.

According to him, the Minority and NPP at large are not happy with the way the ruling NDC government is treating Ghanaians on the issue of fuel price as the World Market price has reduced to $50 dollars per barrel.

Speaking on Okay Fm’s Ade Akye Abia Morning Show, Hon. Nitiwul reiterated that the decisions of the government are meant to bring sufferings to Ghanaians as the 17.5 VAT increment on petroleum is already killing businesses in the country.

He insisted that the 10 per cent reduction in fuel price is annoying and not significant to change the transport fares and prices of goods and services in the market as compare to the significant reduction in the price of crude oil on the world market.

He emphasized that the debt incurred by the government was due to its poor economic management to force the BDCs to sell petroleum at Gh¢3.1 to the dollar rate instead of the actual Gh¢3.8 to then dollar rate; thus bringing about the foreign losses.

“So we are bringing ourselves to employ every means possible to put pressure on government so that they will reduce the fuel price significantly”, he fumed on Okay Fm.

He therefore charged Mahama-led administration to respect the law of National Petroleum Authority (NPA) Act that allows fuel price to be reduced when crude oil price in the world market slides down, otherwise "expect a massive demonstration to press home our rights".
