The Attorney General’s Department, has come under severe attacks after the state illegally paid GHC 51 million to Mr. Alfred Agbesi Woyome.
But Member of Parliament for La Dadekotopon Constituency, Hon. Nii Amasah Namoale, believes the A–G could have saved itself from the public backlash if it had stayed away from prosecuting the embattled NDC businessman in court.
“It isn’t every case that one has to follow”, he said.
Speaking on UTV, the NDC MP revealed that there is the NPP story, NDC story and the actual story surrounding the judgment debt paid to Woyome. The strings attached to the saga should have informed the A-G before making their move on the case, he observed.
Hon. Nii Amasah Namoale noted that the A-G also erred by allowing the public to dictate to it and counsel them to go to court when there was no need to do that.
“People were saying Woyome had no contract and deserved to be prosecuted. For this reason, the Attorney General wanted to be seen working so it also decided to go to court”, he said.
