Jacob Osei Yeboah Bestowed With Governing Council Member In Nigeria

Ghana’s Jacob Osei Yeboah has been confirmed as a member of the Governing Council of the Eastern Polytechnic of Nigeria.

The induction ceremony took place on the premises of the polytechnic in Port Harcourt, Nigeria, on Saturday.

The 2012 Independent Presidential Candidate, popularly known as ‘JOY 2012” nomination was confirmed by Dr S. A. N Igwu, after a well scrutiny of his profile by board members of the school.

The polytechnic, according to the letter of nomination, was approved by the Federal Ministry of Education and accredited by the National Board for Technical Education – the letter also stated that the polytechnic had also been issued with a licence by the Federal Government of Nigeria.

In an interview with Peacefmonline.com, Joy 2012 expressed delight that his greater works have been recognized in Nigeria – “Ghanaians don’t value what they have”

High profile members who graced the occasion includes - Mr Calvin Ogonda Orianwo, Registrar Eastern Poly, Prof. Samuel Akinseinde, Dean Delta States University, Technical/ Technology Education, Mr. Ayoh O.E. Ogon, Clerk, Nigerian Senate committee on Education, Ameer Ibrahim S. Jahum, former Rector of Ogun States University, His Highness Eze. S.C. Nwokoma, Paramount Chief, River States, Port Harcourt and Hon. Prof. Jerry Agada, Chairman of Governing Council, Fmr. Minister of Education, Nigeria.

Mr Yeboah, 44 years old, is an engineer, entrepreneur, strategist, philanthropist, a social thinker and a transformational leader.

He also holds an MBA from Warwick University, UK, with a master’s degree in Global Supply Chain Management from Mannheim University, Germany.

He also holds an Electric/Electronic Engineering degree from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology where his outstanding contributions to Junior Common Room (JCR) meetings as astute and discerning Christian leader of Katanga Hall were imbibed by fellow Kantangese.

Mr Yeboah was a House Prefect (1984 & 1988) of St Paul’s House at Opoku Ware School in Kumasi, where he became a Scripture Union (SU) member in 1984. His sportsmanship saw him play hockey for the school team; he was a javelin thrower and a triple jumper.

Mr Yeboah co-founded United Movement for Change (UMC) in April 2010, an association to bring about real change in Ghana.

He was awarded by the Lay Movement of the Methodist Church, Ghana, in 2009 during the laity 60th Anniversary for his sterling leadership to the youth and again was awarded by the Accra Diocese of the Methodist Church in 2009 during the Diocese’s 60th Anniversary for his exceptional leadership.

Mr Yeboah was the National President for the Ghana Methodist Students’ Union (GHAMSU) from 1991-93; a period the Methodist Church experienced unprecedented shake-up and a foundation for transformation.

Mr Yeboah is married to Hilda Osei Yeboah (Mrs) with whom he has four children.
