A leading member of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko has hit back at the flagbearer of All Peoples Congress (APC), Hassan Ayariga.
"I hear an "opposition" presidential candidate has started attacking Nduom and Nana Addo. He says at 72, the latter should not be staying in the house his father built. Is this supposed to be an attack?!? If Nana Addo, one of Ghana's most successful lawyers, were materialistic he would have probably owned 30 houses by now plus others abroad" he wrote on his facebook page.
This follows comments made by Hassan Ayariga against the flagbearers of the NPP, Nana Akufo Addo and the Progressive Peoples Party (PPP), Paa Kwesi Nduom.
Speaking in an interview on an Accra-based radio station, the APC flagbearer described himself as the best candidate to win the 2016 elections.
According to him, “I made my first $1million at the age of 24 without working with any government. I have never been in a government position; I have never worked as a Minister for you to say I have stolen government money. I built my first house at the age of 22…; at age 72, my senior and my father, Nana Akufo-Addo, is still living in his father’s house. At this age 72, I would have retired from politics and been advising young men of this country to move this country forward and not contest with them anymore....So, if they go round telling Ghanaians Ghana is in crisis and Ghana has become a difficult place for us to live and that we need a change, yes, let’s accept and believe that we need change but that change will not be a change from the NDC to any of them because if Ghana is in crisis, these people are part of the problem why Ghana is in crisis today, because they were given the opportunity to serve and have served,”
However, Gabby disagrees.
This is what he said on his facebook page said:

What he has done is to improve upon what his father left him, dedicating all his energies to pursuing happiness for the greatest number of people. He is overly generous with whatever wealth he gets. He is not greedy. He does not possess even a credit card and does not have a foreign account.
Yes! He owns three houses, one built by his father (Nima), another built by his mother (Kyebi) and one he built (East Legon), where he lived as MP and Minister. Ghana is blessed to have in 2017 a president who is not driven by material things for himself but for all citizens of his nation. He is honest, he is selfless and he is not corrupt. He is just a simple man, with a big heart and a big mind.

Munro and even Guardiola did not achieved that much as players as compared to being managers. So the idea of not building and promising to build a factory is achievable. Ayariga is such a JOKE and we Ghanaians whether because of Politics accept such characters to creep into out infant and growing democracy. The man the last time only came to make fun of Akuffo Addo and we all bought into it only to vanished for the past four years. My friend this time our eyes are not only OPENED BUT RED, so be careful of your utterances against any leader of any Political Party especially the NPP & and now PPP. You ridicule everybody except your countryman from the NDC. We as floating voters will not accept THIS YOUR N0NS3NS3 ANYMORE. SH0T UP AND HOLD YOUR PEACE.
Did Dr Kwame Nkrumah build a house yet all of those who claim to be from the CPP family are grabbing wealth with your two hands and with your two legs and if possible your ***barred word***. Ayariga should tell us how he earned his cash.
Bob I think you are one of those who don't read articles before commenting on it. If you read the article, Gabby said Nana Addo owns 3 houses. One built by his father at Nima, Another one built by the mother at Kyebi and the one he himself built at East Legon. So why your comment. Realistically, man's success is not measured by how many houses he has or the number cars you have. Those are materialistic. Rather your life should be measured by how many people you have affected positively, how many people you raised up to be successful in life. As for Ayariga, just forget about him.
showering praises where it does not belong. nana addo has never been and will never be near one the successful lawyers of Ghana.this nana man has never shined anywhere in his working life. he only used people to work for.he is not intellectually inclined.
WHAT DOES GABBY MENT BY AKUFO ADDO IS NOT MATERIALISTIC, AND THAT IS WHY HE AT THE AGE OF 72 IS STILL LIVING IN HIS FATHER'S HOUSE. GABBY, HONESTLY, IS UN IRRESPONSIBLE WAY OF DEFENDING THE OLD MAN. A MAN OF THE STATURE OF AKKUFO ADDO SHOULD NOT BE LIVING IN HIS FATHER'S HOUSE AT HIS AGE. YOU CAN NOT AQUIRE ANYTHING FORSELF HOW DO YOU EXPECT THE PEOPLE OF GHANA TO ENTRUST INTO YOUR HANDS THE WHOLE OF THIS GREAT COUNTRY. IT'S TIME WE ALLOW ONLY ACHIEVERS TO LEAD OUR NATION AND NOT PEOPLE WHO ARE HUNGRY FOR POWER AND WHO WILL COME TO POWER TO AQUIRE PROPETIES FOR HIM AND HIS CRONIES
someone who has never built a house for himself is now promising to build one factory in each district and one dam in each village. He will rather sell the existing factories just like he sold his fathers houses.
the fact is that Nana cannot use a credit card. he is technologically challenged.
With big heart indeed. Why can't he then not accommodate those who disagree with him?
Utter garbage! from Gabby. This short man will not be president in 2017.
Ghana Revenue Authority should asap investigate Hassan Ayariga's sources of income. GRA should be serious with some of these politicians parading themselves as wealthy persons. Has he been filing his tax returns? Ghana needs all the taxes.
