The Chief Executive Officer of Dalex Finance Ken Thompson has advised Trade minister-designate Alan Kyerematen not to repeat the mistakes he made with the Presidential Special initiatives (PSIs), as he prepares to take office as Trade minister.
According to him, wrong business decisions taken by Mr. Kyerematen led to the failure of the PSIs under former President John Kufuor.
The Presidential Special Initiatives which were signature projects of the former President are deemed to have failed with Mr. Kyerematen in charge.
Speaking to Starr News after the official announcement of Mr. Kyerematen as incoming trade minister, Mr. Thompson said the business community will resist any attempt to repeat the mistakes of the past.
“…the initiatives failed because they all led by the government and not the private sector. Which private sector man will go and put a ten million factory in Kasoa and allow it to be run down?
“So if Alan Kyerematen is going to come back to do what he did in the past, not only will we resist him fiercely, but they will all fail,” he stated.
Mr. Kyerematen was named among 13 other people by President Akufo-Addo on Tuesday in the first batch of his ministerial nominees.
The rest will be announced later today and tomorrow Thursday January, 13.

Boss, I will prefer you take proactive steps to ensure the success of the projects after this opinion you have expressed. That is what I need from you.
Brave, fair & straight comment. On point Mr. Thompson. Long live Ghana.
I don't get it. Which wrong business decisions were taken by Alan? As the name of the program sugguests, it was Presidential Special Initiative. It sugguests that initially the Government has to creat and Support the Programm, with intension and directions for farmers who supply the raw materials and interested private Business-persons to take over and own it. The NDC-Government did not promote further and that was why it failed.
The PSI conception was brilliant and didn't failed just because of the absence of private sector involvement. It failed due to corruption and nepotism and totally agrees with Gyata.
No sh1t Sherlock. If you make mistakes in the past and you repeat them again you will Fail. Things will be different this time. Good luck John Alan Kojo Kyeremanteng AlanKash.
Constructive citicism indeed. I think this is what we need as a country and I hope that the minister designate reads what the Dalex Boss has stated. I strongly think that the state should not be left to run businesses. Whatmore, private participation is necessary to sustain these businesses as well as secure its lifespan. Really encouraged by this release.
The PSI was job for the boys.simple. Relations of NPP top officials headed the various project at the time, mercilessly squandered the funds entrusted to them. Most of figures on invoices and receipts were grossly inflated.
Alan Kyerematen gave the Presidential Special initiatives (PSIs) to NPP boys who new nothing about business . I know of one who was a teacher in Canada and all of a sudden became in-charge of PSI in salt production. He mismanaged and squandered the rest of fund budgeted for the project. His walking freee
