Information gathered by 3news.com has confirmed that the office of the president, Nana Akufo-Addo, has received a letter indicating that former president Mahama is no longer interested in staying in his cantonments bungalow.
The former president had requested that he was allowed to keep the house at the No. 3. Prestige Link, Cantonments as part of his retirement package. He has lived in the house since 2009: as a vice president and president.
The request generated a great hue and cry across the country with some groups revealing their determination to eject him with force if he continues to stay in the house. But Mr. Mahama in a letter to President Akufo-Addo on Tuesday withdrew the letter expressing his interest in that bungalow and another building on No. 6, 3rd Avenue. “It would appear that these requests threaten to mar the spirit of cooperation with which we as co-chairs of the Joint Transition Team have managed the smooth transfer of power from my administration to yours.
“…My request is therefore humbly withdrawn.”
Meanwhile, sources at the Flagstaff House, the seat of government, confirmed that the former president’s letter was received on Tuesday evening. The President, Nana Akufo-Addo is yet to take a decision on the latest letter, the source said. He also noted that the president is very much aware of the requirements under the Transaction Act, and would also respect recommendation to provide Mr. Mahama a befitting residential and office accommodation.

What is wrong with Peace FM? I was trying to post under your Peace FM heading 'GOVERNMENT REJECT MAHAMA HOUSE'. That heading is obviously wrong, Peace FM, you've realized. Senior Minister designate has indicated the Nana Akufo-Addo Dankwa administration refuses to accede to Mahama's request to appropriate the COCO-BOD residence because Mahama's request is obviously misplaced. Mahama will be evicted from the residence he has dreamed to own; the quicker and earlier the better. But the point you needed to be drawn attention to is the wrong heading you posted: Government REJECT Mahama house. A request to be allowed to own the COCO-BOD never made that residence a property Mahama already owned. You did wrong posting that heading! Would Peace FM now consider introducing an 'edit' button for commentators to be able to edit their own comments. The errors I see in my post embarrass me! Please consider this request soon enough!
WISE NANA WILL NEVER ,NEVER AND NEVER DO THAT.
thank you president mahama thank u God bless you for dat decision because very soon akufo addo will become expresident and we shall see
JUST LIKE YOU AND YOUR NDC KILLED PRESIDENT MILLS. WOABODAM.
WOBEGYAAAAAA MU. MAMBOROBA.
Has the NDC given a house to former prez. Kuffour as He, kuffuor did for Rawlings? 8yrs down the line and are crying foul. the bible says do unto others as you want others to do unto you. THE BATTLE IS STILL THE LORDS.
SO AKUFO-ADDO KNOWS THAT JOHN MAHAMA DESERVES A HOUSE AND OFFICE? WHY ARE HIS "BABIES WITH SHARP BRAINS FOR COPYING" RIDICULING JM? THEY ARE EVEN SAYING THAT JM WANTED TO BUY THE PROPERTY. I WISH TO ENCOURAGE JM NOT TO EVEN ACCEPT ANY PROPERTY FROM THE AKUFO-ADDO. HE SHOULD JUST MANAGE HIS OWN PROPERTIES AND I PRAY THAT GOD WILL SOON PROVIDE HIM WITH A BIGGER AND BETTER FACILITIES. GOD BLESS AND STRENGTHEN PREZ. JOHN MAHAMA AND HIS FAMILY.
Fill in the blank space APOSO..........
you have even been there for too long masa go koraa
are you aware that NDC did not give Kufour any house? so Mahama should dance to his own music.
