Who paid who, and who are the recipients of the alleged bribe money from President Nana Addo’s nominee for Energy?
The brouhaha about the bribery scandal has been in the news over the week – and some minority members are at each other’s neck with claims which are yet to be justified.
Former Deputy Education Minister, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has said that minority chief whip, Muhammad Muntaka ‘lied’ over his claims that the minority members of the house were not paid any amount of money for them to approve the President’s nominee for Energy.
Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa maintained on NEAT FM’s morning show Ghana Montie that, he indeed was paid a sum of GHC3,000 by the Asawase MP and hence was shocked when Muntaka said on Saturday that money did not exchange hands before Boakye Agyarko was approved by the house.
“Truly, we were given money…I was shocked when Muntaka denied the bribery allegation, someone called to inform me; but I was shocked until later in the day when I heard the tape…I must say I wasn’t surprised, I was shocked…,” he said.
Genesis of Boakye Agyarko bribery scandal
Bawku Central MP, Mahama Ayariga alleged on Accra-based Radio Gold on Friday that the Energy Minister designate, Boakye Agyarkko who was hailed by Ghanaians for outstanding performance before Parliament’s Appointment Committee sneaked an amount of GHC100, 000 to the house to be distributed to members on both sides of the committee.
According to him, each of the members from the minority side of Parliament’s appointment committee was given an amount of GHȻ3,000.
He said he took the money because they had discussed issues about their sitting allowances with the minority chief whip, Muntaka Mubarak and he promised to find out from the Chairman of the Committee, Joe Osei-Owusu as to when the allowances will be paid.
Muntaka Mubarak, he said, later gave the amount to them saying the money was coming from the Chairman of the committee only for them to hear it was coming from Boakye Agyarko.
This allegation has been denied by the Chairman of the Appointments Committee, Joe Osei-Owusu and Muhammad Muntaka with the former swearing by the Quoran that he never paid any money to Mahama Ayariga and the Minority members of the committee.
But Okudzeto said, he was surprised especially when Muntaka who gave the money to him and also chaired a meeting of the minority caucus, denied the claims.

Listen to thi NPP foooooooooools on the this forum, when Wayome was caught in corruption scandal it has been as if the whole Ghana should break loose, now one of those that was shouting on rooftops about corruption Agyarko, you NPP guys are here crying foul. Do you really want Ghana to fight corruption? if it is NPP it is okay, if it NDC then it is a crime?
The NDC had a meeting to tag Nana Addo's Government with Corruption within first 100 days in the office. This is really on course for them able supported by Kwesi Pratt the man with no wisdom. Not surprise that Okudzato choosed Nii Lantey as witness because he knows credible ones as Muntaka won't fall forthis. But the secrete is out because you guys are not smart enough hence the use of vetting angle. Any Ghanaian brains can tell that NDC minority could not in a million years stop Agyarko from becoming the minister so where lies the wisdom to bribe? It's a big lie and it won't hold. Mr Sharp Teeth Okudzato is being pushed with this but what he's forgetting is that he's with Woyome in the loot and share activity. Ab3n B3 Bom.
Make we hear word, is that the first time this thing has happen in Parliament. Ayariga or okudzeto should cast the first stone if they have not received such monies before. They are not clean, just vet our ministers for Nana addo to start fixing our country.
NDC, we should condemn our guys in parliament to stop these crazy things that took us to opposition Ooo. Why won't our front break? Muntaka vrs Ayariga & co? Rawlings vrs Mahama-Asiedu Nketia & co. This Northern vrs Ewe NDC MP dichotomy etc. If we say we want to stop calling our communication guys propagandist, let's truly live by it.
AGYARKO CASH, EVERYWHERE YOU GO!
why should we waste time on ablakwa and co . they are deceiving us . media coverage should not be given to them. we know them. they would be exposed at the end of the day.
Nana Addo should move quickly and suspend or sack this Agarko nominee ASAP ; Nana Addo does not need this smear of bribery faeces from non a person as Ablakwa ; this is a dirty brown squireel who during the NDC time was stilling nuts and taking bribes all over the place today attempting an equalisation scenario to damage Nana Addo'S government ; to me whether it is true or not Nana Addo should suspend this guy and parlianemt should call to order Muntaka and Osei Owusu -PRONTO !!!!!; because the whole parliament stinks of faeces of corruption and bribery; why has all the nominees gone through the vetting without any trouble execetr Osafo -Marfo and this Agarko!!!!!!!! ; Nana Addo should BE VERY CAREFUL about these two guys ; because he should not say that we the people did not WARN HIM OF THESE RATS in his government ; today Jon Mahama and JJ Rawlings are suffering the STANCH OF BRIBERY : STILLING AN CORRUPTIN; NANA ADDO SHOULD CAREFUL !!!!!!; THERE ARE SINISTER FORCES IN HIS GOVERNMENT !!!!!!
Yeah we are going to see more of this corruption in npp govt. It has just started and more to come.
Ghanaians should understand the propaganda NDC used to win elections in 2008 is underway again. We have been told that that money given to these Committee members by Joe Wise/Muntaka is the sitting allowance but Ayariga, Okudjato Ablakwa and others are using it to throw sand into out eyes. We now know your propaganda tactics so your plans will not work.
