Gender, Children and Social Welfare Minister-designate, Otiko Afisa Djaba has indicated that her Ministry will work towards the eradication of child labour and porters popularly called 'kayayei' from the country.
Speaking before the Parliamentary Appointments Commitee on Monday, January 30, 2017, Otiko Djaba, noted that the current administration will do its best to curb the situation.
Indicating that the issue of child labour and 'kayayei' business serves as a canker to national development, she noted that her Ministry will roll out pragmatic steps to resolve it.
According to her it is her goal to not just reduce 'kayayei', but to eradicate it.
"We have short-term and long-term plans," she added.
"We're going to look at this in fishing areas and galamsey areas," she said regarding child labour and further noted that she would also ensure that the hostel facility for 'kayayei's' enshrined in the NPP's manifesto come to pass.
She stated that the Ministry will liaise with other State institutions to start the eradicate process.

No amount of intimidation work. I really don't know if this Ablakwa guy thought of his question b4 ask. He's one person full of arrogance esp when speaking . If anyone has to refrain from insult & all that then it shd be the arrogant Ablakwa . One person I hate to hear his voice on air esp when NDC WAS IN POWER.
