Prior to a government coming to power, a lot of sponsorships are sought for by party executives. Organisations and various personalities ‘sow’ monies into the party’s campaign programme hoping to "harvest" after the party comes to power.
They expect that once they helped the party to come to power, they should be rewarded with appointments or contracts; a situation Kwesi Pratt describes ‘pirate mentality’.
Contributing to a panel discussion on Radio Gold’s Alhaji and Alhaji, Managing Editor of the Insight newspaper stated that President Akufo Addo is suffering from the effects of pirate mentality.
According to him, the President’s appointment of 110 ministers is as a result of pirate mentality.
“The constitution has not been violated but I think there is still something wrong. This appointment reflect the weight of pressure that is being put on the President…there is massive pressure no matter the party which wins election by supporters and sympathisers to be given something. The pirate mentality is deeply entrenched in our politics; that is where the problem is. I helped you to come to power therefore I need to be rewarded. This is the bottom of the issue.
It is the extent to which leaders are able to handle that pressure that shows leadership qualities…indeed this is the highest number of ministers in our history; not in the fourth republic. It therefore means that pressure which stems out from a pirate mentality has been worst managed this time. 110 ministers are too many given our current circumstance. I don’t know what the president can do about it but if he is leading a listening government, he must watch out”.
Meanwhile, Kwesi Pratt has also urged President Akufo Addo ‘to put his foot down’ and better manage the pressures.

WHAT ABOUT THE MIDNIGHT APPOINTMENT OF MAHAMA
He can only say this on ndc radio station not on peace fm , ***barred word***
DID KWASI PRATT EVER CRITICIZE MAHAMA WHEN HE DID ALL THE WRONG THINGS. I SAID KWASI NEVER SAW ANY THING WRONG WITH WHAT MAHAMA AND HIS TEAM DID, THE WRONGS, THE STEALING, THE HARDSHIP , THE CAR BRIBE,THE ***barred word*** INCREASES IN FUEL PRICES . KWASI IS QUICK TO CRITICIZE NANA ADDO'S GOVERNMENT SIZE BECAUSE THE NPP IS NOT PAYING HIM LIKE THE NDC DID. KWASI PRATT MUST BOW HIS HEAD IN SHAME
you think the battle is still the Lord? you dont know what you are saying. i you see what is happing in this country of late. young ones are dying
Kwasi Pratt always goes harshly verbose on this Gold FM program, don't know what they put in the water during the program. Bear with him. Even though it pays to stay mature even in the face of "peer pressure" and leading questions posed by a clearly biased host. Perhaps you listened to Newsfile last Saturday where the host was bold enough to describe the current President as PATHETIC for his reasons for appointing 110 Ministers. Now that is uncultured and ***barred word*** behavior! that host has certainly grown horns and I would have brought him down to earth if I were on the show. There's nothing illegal about the number but most believe the cost and value at this stage, is prohibitive and unknown. The Constitution allows him to appoint as many as he thinks he needs to govern well, so either we start the process to change the constitution and put limits on the number of ministers or use "thumb power" at the next chance. No?
Such 'Garbage"!! Mr. know all!! AND SO WHAT?
Observers are worried
Really? Now this big mouth guy can now have his voice back to critises NPP. You did not see anything wrong when NDC govt was in power. Did you also received your share of the stolen booty? Just shut your mouth and let them govern. You are definitelky scared that your NDC party will never be back in power, hence the panic attack. Shame on you stomach journalist long teeth kwesi pratt.
Kwesi your words are rather harsh, show some respect for the President even if you disagree with him, that is called civility. I voted NPP but I am not comfortable with the 110 ministers, that is not an excuse to insult the president.
You are suffering from ***barred word***. Stop this your ***barred word***
