Kennedy Agyapong, Assin Central Member of Parliament has described the National Security Minister, Albert Kan-Dapaah as a ‘disaster’.
He said if he had helped members of the Delta Force when they went to him, this issue (storming court) would not have escalated.
Kennedy Agyapong was speaking to the incident that occurred at the Kumasi Circuit Court, Thursday in an interview on UTV's 'Adekye Nsroma', Friday.
Some members of the Delta Force; a Pro-NPP vigilante group stormed the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) Circuit Court to free 13 of their colleagues who had been arraigned for forcibly throwing the Ashanti Regional Security Coordinator out of office last month.
Even though the Assin Central MP has condemned their actions, he believes if they had not been arrested and was just asked to apologise as he had earlier advised, “the situation will not have got to this level.”
“What they have done is disgraceful and I condemn them outrightly, but Kan-Dapaah is a disaster . . . National security is a disaster . . . The guys still see some NDC people at post while they are not working. They didn’t do well but there is undercurrent . . . when they went for help from him he (Kan- Dapaah) told them he has stopped doing those things."
"I have said it, if he likes he should come and arrest me. I am ready for them; I have a lot of issues and if they don’t take care I will bring the party down . . . I only have respect for Nana Akufo-Addo. Threatening that you will arrest me; come and arrest me; I am waiting for you. I fought NDC so I am not afraid of NPP. Where was Kan Dapaah when I was spending on the party? I am not supporting what they (Delta Force) did but if NPP are accusing me of being the mastermind, I am ready for them. If they had listened to me, it would not have gotten to this level,” he said.
The maverick Assin Central Member of Parliament, Mr Kennedy Agyapong, who had earlier defended the riotous activities of the Delta Force, a political vigilante group aligned to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has made a U-turn and condemned the group.
In a disclaimer on Thursday night on Oman FM, Mr Agyapong admitted that the action of Delta Force in storming the court on Thursday to free accused persons was “disgraceful”.
Some members of the group stormed the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) Circuit Court to free 13 of their colleagues who had been arraigned for forcibly throwing the Ashanti Regional Security Coordinator out of office last month.
They ‘invaded’ the court shortly after the presiding judge, Mrs Mary Nsenkyire, had remanded the 13 into prison custody to reappear on April 20, 2017.
Immediately word went out that the 13 had been remanded, some supporters of the accused who were outside the courtroom attempted to find their way into the courtroom but they were prevented from doing so by the police.

I think its good and in the right direction for Ken to condemn what happened. I commend him for that but matters of the party must be dealt with internally and not on air. Please do hold the fire and channel your grievances through the right channel. No doubt characters like you played a big role for Nana Addo to succeed and no one can take that from you but please calm the nerves.
Ken Agyapong is on point. Why leave NDC activists at the National security? This is wrong. Then better leave NDC Ministers to rule for Nana Addo. look at how they handled J B Danquah's murder? I don't even know why Nana Addo will chose Ken Dapaa for a sensitive position as National Security.
Some positions are very sensitive and you don't leave pro-NDc people there else they will make the work of the NPP Government so difficult. That's exactly what Ken is talking about. Ken Dapaa is so soft but in Ghana it's Buga-Buga is some fields such as security. Be gentle and Mr nice Guy and people will bring your government down. Better listen to Ken Agyapong and act Mr Dapaa.
This Kennedy Agyapong is becoming unbecoming. He should stop advertising the traits of an uneducated rich. Every day one hear his name on our airwaves. Has he forgotten he is an MP? Why is he creating problems for Nana Addo and NPP? He is becoming a nuisance in Ghana politics. Let's face facts, people like Kennedy Agyepong is useful ONLY in elections campaigns, and irrelevant in decisions making.
Ken l am disappointed in you. Does it mean every new opposition part that wins power must sack the previous govt workers. where are we heading to? didn't late Atta Mills maintain all the existing staff when ndc took over power
Well said honourable
