Ex-President John Dramani Mahama has slammed Ghana's media for taking an unbridled interest in the affairs of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) and not in the activities of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).
He wondered why the media has suddenly become "anxious" of the NDC and made the party their attention instead of focusing on the current administration.
Ex-President, speaking to former Ministers and Deputies as well as Presidential Staffers in Accra on Tuesday, March 28, was disappointed in the media because to him before the 2016 elections, they were not interested in the party.
He wondered why all of sudden, "it should be about NDC. Why is the media so anxious to give us so much airtime today? Before the elections, they didn't come chasing you to ask you what you think. All the airtime was going to our opponents. Then all of sudden, now you know as much airtime; the prime time morning shows, they're looking for NDC people and saying what's your comment about what's happening in your party and it's about the NDC today. Why should it be about the NDC?"
Mr. Mahama decided to school the journalists in Ghana, making reference to the Western media with regards to the Trump administration, unlike Ghana's media which takes delight in talking about the opposition NDC.
"The democrats lost, who's talking about the democrats in America? It's about Trump and the new administration. They're collecting the people's taxes. They should be the focus of media attention. Why is the NDC the focus of media attention at this time?" he questioned.
Mr. Mahama somehow believed the media cabal he once referred to is at work again.
"It just shows that there's a certain deviousness to try to make this about the NDC and not about who's in government and how they're fulfilling their promises. And unfortunately, we're falling into the trap".

GO AND ASK STAN DOGBE
This man has not stop the arrogance that lead his party to opposition. Mahama ur comment is very very unfortunate aah why? do you think you can rebuild and make the party attractive to the electorates without the media? oh please please in fact, try to lower your edgo small. This kind of comments are not good enough for you and the NDC. You remember during campaign you said, you prefered to loose than to restore trainees allowances and paid dearly for it? some of your comments are good at all
what is this man talking about? get a life Mahama
What is this th1ef of a president talking about? From the time NPP lost in 2008 until now all the focus were and still has been on them .90 percent of Asempa fm ekoosi sei political talk show by Bobie Ansah and of late the so called Kaba have been on the NPP. Please ***barred word*** and lick your wounds as the NDC will remain in opposition for a very long time
Seriously Mahama does not make sense all. You fought the media when you were in power, branded those who opposed your administration as "kaball". You are in opposition now, you still fight the media for giving you the attention. If you cannot use media to your advantage in this "media frenzy" dispensation, how can you sell your alternative ideas as an opposition party to the electorate? You cannot fight the media through the media and win. You called for press conference, it was not the press that called for your attention. Sir, you are completely childish on this one. If you are looking for the reasons of NDC's loss in the 2016 election, fighting the media was one of the reasons. Learn from that. it will do you and the NDC party a great good
JM, you never had the media attention when your party was in power, now you ve it in opposition, why don't you take advantage of their presence to rebrand, build and sell your party again if you are a smart person or politician, must you denigrate and chastise today the very institution you will call for help tomorrow, you are behaving like the proverbial monkey who insulted the palm wine, after drinking and getting himself drank , even in opposition you are still incompetenttt
Massa, talk sense. Even your vice president couldn't get access to you. How much more the media?
Ghanaians have got what they wanted. they prayed for one District one factory, a free SHS Education, School feeding, free SHS and others Akufo Addo promised. But what are we experiencing now ,is the attack on the judicially by the Delta force, the grabing of cars by this uncultured lawyer called Obiri Boahen, and election of 110 Ministers to squander the tax payers Money. Ghanaians becareful what you wish for for it is not all that shine is GOLD
Point of correction Peacefm. President Mahama doesn't somehow believe the media cabal is at work again, It is a fact that even as the NDC is in opposition the media cabal is still at work. I listen to Accra FM this morning when the host was interviewing Obiri Boahene. The latter said a lot of unfounded and non factual things against the NDC while the host remained silent all through out. Then Koku Ayidoho called into the show to make a factual statement about Obiri Boahene, immediately the host tries to interject and defend Obiri Boahene. Infact it was sad listening to such Nauseating journalist moderating the show.
We the people of Ghana have great interest in the ndc and its former assigns. Our reason is simple. We are missing some large amounts of money from the national treasury. Some contracts have been signed by people who appeared to be drunk or asleep when those contracts were signed. We have great interest in the party because we are missing many vehicles and we want those vehicles back. And as for you John Mahama it appears you have gotten over your great shame so you've started talking but the people will never forgive you for making their lives miserable.
