The governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) has asked the Multimedia Group to render “an unqualified apology” to it for its failure to admit its representatives to the station’s Newsfile programme on Saturday April 15.
Last Saturday’s edition of the show proceeded without representation from the governing party after the station turned away two of the party’s picks for the show – Eric Twum, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Export Promotion Authority; and Henry Nana Boakye, the Deputy Executive Director of the National Service Scheme.
Newsfile host Samson Anyenini explained at the beginning of the show that the two “were not up to the standard of the show” for which reason producers had failed to admit them to the programme.
Reacting to the development, the Acting General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), John Boadu, in a statement said the description of the two as being below the standard of the current affairs programme was “unsavoury” and asked the media house and Mr Anyenini to issue an “official apology” to the party.
“The party demands an immediate and an unqualified apology from Multimedia and from Samson Anyenini,” the statement noted.
Mr Boadu further stated that Multimedia’s decision was high-handed and the controversy could have been avoided had the station decided to resolve the matter through “dialogue and respect”.
Below is the statement from the NPP:
ATTENTION:
MULTIMEDIA GROUP
Dear Sir/Madam
NPP DEMANDS AN UNQUALIFIED APOLOGY FROM MULTIMEDIA GROUP
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) demands an official apology from your media organisation and also Samson Anyenini, the host of your programme, Newsfile.
The NPP, after submitting names for representation on the Saturday 15th April, 2017 edition of Newsfile, was surprised to hear on the live show our representatives “were not up to the standard of the show”. The unsavoury pronouncement was made by the host.
The party finds this statement very unfortunate.
Mr Henry Nana Boakye, who is currently the Deputy Executive Director of the National Service Scheme and Eric Twum, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Export Promotion Authority, are members of our national communications team.
We have worked hand in hand with your organisation at different levels and find this not only unnecessary but a display of high handedness in a simple matter that could have been resolved through dialogue and respect.
The party demands an immediate and an unqualified apology from Multimedia and from Samson Anyenini.
…Signed…
Boadu John
(General Secretary, Ag.)

@Alex you don't need to be told about the level of education of these two gentlemen. From the appointments so far made by the president if one consider their standards of education I would be surprised if these two gentlemen have not got at least first degree because they are in a very sensitive positions.
I think some of us who listen to the the Newsfile program are below the standard of the organizers. From today,I quit listening to the program. Let Anyenini choose his own standard audience. I have closed my television from all Multimedia outlets. UTV,to you I find solace.
what a impudence you invite.sam gorge, okujato, kofi adams, and ofosu kwakye on your show and you say what?akua donkor is even better than kofi adams.
Ah but who be nana b. That guy is full of propaganda and sh.it. Well done Samson, keep the bar high
Can anyone help me to tell me the educational background and the level of education of these two gentlemen? I will be grateful.
This is the most arrogant and totally nons3nsical thing I've heard in a long time What the f*ck do they mean by' these people do not measure to the standards of the show'? let me tell you something some of us listen to that programme mainly because of Kweku Baako and the time the gentleman was out of the country We simply stopped listening in. People, have you noticed that these Northern guys who appear to have made some headway in any field all of a sudden become so arrogant and full of themselves?[Of late even the much respected Menasseh sounds pretty arrogant.] Example, this Anyenini guy, Suhiniyi,Ayariga,Murtala Mohammed .What is it with these people that they cannot stay focused and be humble. What is it about the programme that is so special? We've in the past had to listen to some pretty boring and even nauseating stuff from people from the NDC.You are forcing some of us to completely tune off. There is always The 'Big Issue'on CitiFm.Normally people listen to the repeat on Sunday .It's got some pretty intelligent chaps on.Anyenini be humble because you will go up in smoke the way you're conducting yourself.
If you can admit Sam George and co and not Nana Boakye, God is watching you and multimedia and to describe another human being as unfit for discussion is below the belt. This reminds me of what the host has said before about Ken Agyapong that the day Ken will appear on news file he will quite multi media.
I was beginning to think I'm the only one who has noticed the arro, gan.ce of that boy called Ayenini or whatever he's called. I remember him as a nobody when he used to report for Luv FM in Kumasi. Now, he's come to the nation's capital and sees himself as a better human being than someone like Nana B? Like seriously? He's becoming increasingly puffed up. Kweku Baako is the ONLY reason why I listen to News File. In his absence, I find something else to do. Ayenini is a clear departure from the pioneers like Kwaku Sakyi-Addo, Matilda Asante and Kojo Oppong Nkrumah. As to some of the people who "meet the standard of News File", that he ALLOWS on the program, the least said about them the better. Ayenini is a disappointment. Period!
@Evil NPPigs a very sad day for Ghana, cannot believe a parties hatred is that deep, who ever wrote this must have lost and impending NDC contract after 2016.. l say sorry but hatred can kill you so hold your cool. Atta also stood for 3 times so what is your problem hear.. What Sampson did shows he is full of himself, and l guess the NPP needs to show him that there are other platforms that they can send their messages across. after all the news file is about NDC and NPP so if you decide not to allow one party in we have a no show. I think peacefm can make a rival program OVER TO YOU PEACE FM
I was appalled by what Ayeyeni said about the people NPP had selected to appear on its behalf on the show. To describe a human as not fit to appear on a news program is beyond arrogance. Yet he allowed a guest to get away away by arrogating himself as the best international contract lawyer in the country. Well I will not watch that show anymore. Citifm here I come.
