The governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) has asked the Multimedia Group to render “an unqualified apology” to it for its failure to admit its representatives to the station’s Newsfile programme on Saturday April 15.
Last Saturday’s edition of the show proceeded without representation from the governing party after the station turned away two of the party’s picks for the show – Eric Twum, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Export Promotion Authority; and Henry Nana Boakye, the Deputy Executive Director of the National Service Scheme.
Newsfile host Samson Anyenini explained at the beginning of the show that the two “were not up to the standard of the show” for which reason producers had failed to admit them to the programme.
Reacting to the development, the Acting General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), John Boadu, in a statement said the description of the two as being below the standard of the current affairs programme was “unsavoury” and asked the media house and Mr Anyenini to issue an “official apology” to the party.
“The party demands an immediate and an unqualified apology from Multimedia and from Samson Anyenini,” the statement noted.
Mr Boadu further stated that Multimedia’s decision was high-handed and the controversy could have been avoided had the station decided to resolve the matter through “dialogue and respect”.
Below is the statement from the NPP:
ATTENTION:
MULTIMEDIA GROUP
Dear Sir/Madam
NPP DEMANDS AN UNQUALIFIED APOLOGY FROM MULTIMEDIA GROUP
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) demands an official apology from your media organisation and also Samson Anyenini, the host of your programme, Newsfile.
The NPP, after submitting names for representation on the Saturday 15th April, 2017 edition of Newsfile, was surprised to hear on the live show our representatives “were not up to the standard of the show”. The unsavoury pronouncement was made by the host.
The party finds this statement very unfortunate.
Mr Henry Nana Boakye, who is currently the Deputy Executive Director of the National Service Scheme and Eric Twum, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Export Promotion Authority, are members of our national communications team.
We have worked hand in hand with your organisation at different levels and find this not only unnecessary but a display of high handedness in a simple matter that could have been resolved through dialogue and respect.
The party demands an immediate and an unqualified apology from Multimedia and from Samson Anyenini.
…Signed…
Boadu John
(General Secretary, Ag.)

Sounds disrespectful what the producers of News File did. Still, when, without mentioning names, Samson explained that the producers had rejected NPP's representative for not being qualified to appear on the show, one and only one name came to mind- Nana B. Says a lot, if you ask me!
kwasiaa can you compare that dog to felix fiafitorwor
This is completely discriminatory against human, please Samson you are my fun but for this one come again, worse than hon Ken Aghapong you always criticise, this is bellow the belt, could have been put in much better way.
I want to advice the great elephant family to avoid all multimedia programs. What an insult from this guy that Nana B does not qualified for the program. You were having people like Fosu Kwakye and the likes on your show how much more Nana B.Unqualified apology is understatement. You must boycott all multimedia programs until that arrogant and good for nothing host is changed.Who is this Samson Anyenini and who does he think he is. Multimedia I will advise you to change him with an immediate effect. Look at the people he hosted last Saturday oh the Newsfile. My great and honorable acting general secretary please do not just demand for apology but boycott the news files as a whole.Nonses
You make very valid points, not sure about Kwaku Baako but Anyenini is gradually becoming full of himself. One time during the "110 business", he actually described the current Prez justification as "pathetic"! I prefer this current govt to the previous one but cannot bring myself to understand the need for "110", but for goodness sake describing something lawful and reasoned by your Pres as "pathetic" because you see it differentry and shouting yourself hoarse is the height of petty haughtiness if not narrow-mindedness! I heard that lawyer toot his little horn about the best thing out there since sliced bread in Ghana - if that's the case, then no wonder AMERI has taken Ghana to the cleaners, no thanks to this blowhard lawyer! Let's pray for all these detractors and hope that sooner than later they will wake and smell the real coffee not the nescafe. For God and country!
@Nii. You're spot on. Without Kwaku Baako who will waste 3hrs of his/her weekend to listen to Newsfile. This Samson Lardi has become indescribably arrogant. And that former deputy minister who claims to more about international trade in Ghana than everyone else, the least said about him the better. I look forward to a rival news review program on GTV or any of the stations with bigger reach. I'm so ruffled by the lack of respect shown Nana B that I can't imagine listening to rif.f.ra.f.f.s again but for my idol Kwaku Baako
Kweku Baako, Please watch it. you are being by Multi Media and Lardi ARYENINI to propagate themselves. Without you, Newsfile will be one of those programs. The Host is indeed TRIBALIST. He gives his people from the north more time to explain themselves. Look at the time he gave to Ayariga the LIER to explain himself. Again look at the time he gave the former deputy attorney General to speak on the Ameri deal to the extent that he was being POMPOUS that nobody in ghana knows International Trade more than him. When did he finish school?
They know your old foool is a violent person that was why the same good people of Ghana rejected him three times at poll. But he took advantage of the global economic crisis that hit Mahama's administration to beg and prostrate before Ghanaians to give a chance and promised them what American president could not fullfil and this made Ghanaians to give him a trial. But so far so good Ghanaians have been vindicated for voting against him three time and am sure if election conducted today Ghanaians will advise themselves.
