A former Northern Regional Minister and regional campaign coordinator for John Mahama 2016, Alhaji Mohammed Muniru-Limuna insists former president John Dramani Mahama remains the best bet for the party in 2020.
“He is the one who is spiritually and physically capable to lead the party to victory in 2020. It is either John Mahama or no one else. My prayer however is that he should accept to go as our candidate in 2020 despite claims by his family he will not run again”, he told mynewsgh.com in an exclusive interview.
Alhaji Limuna said the former president per the constitution is still qualified to run and if successful rule for another four-year term indicating that he has contributed immensely to the development of the country just that Ghanaians have failed to show gratitude and his track record will be largely depended on for the 2020 campaigns.
On why the party lost to the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), he said there was disconnect between the top hierarchy of the party and the grassroots which resulted in disaffection among the youth in particular who failed to vote for the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
“There were certain things we overlooked that cost us. There was disconnect from the top and the ground and the youth were a bit aggrieved and we needed to pay special attention to them. I commissioned someone to do a research and it proved that they were very angry and likely not to vote for us.
I shared the report with other people but they did not give me the hearing”, he stated.
Aside that, he observed that there was governance fatigue among Ghanaians not because the government of the day was not performing, but that the citizenry were just not willing for the continuity of an NDC government.
“It has now been put in the minds of Ghanaians that every government has a maximum of 8 years not because of what the government of the day can do for the people. All the good things and the struggling we did, they were not moved. All they wanted was change and you know God works in several ways and as a believer of faith there are reasons God does certain things”, he added.
He however appealed to the rank and file of the party not to turn the party’s mistakes into blame games underscoring the need for the party to restructure and reunite and become a formidable force to reckon with in 2020.

Mr. Limuna, the NDC is a democratic Party so why don't you allow a competitive selection of people to lead the Party.Did you learn a lesson when the Party refused to allow only one candidate to contest Mahama? and even when Mahama stood unopposed he could not get even 80% of the votes. Mahama should carefully listen to the voice of his father "Leave when the Applause is Loudest".We are all human ,he might have done his best but there were a lot of avoidable mistakes he could have avoided eg the Ford "gift",Montie 3,***barred word*** insult.Enough is enough. What are we striving for under the Sun...all is Vanity
Those who are routing for John mahama what makes them think he is the best for the party?fortunately or unfortunately it's coming from no other than his appointees and they think John mahama is the most popular person in that party, they just forget he was rejected by some of his own ndc members during his lone primaries with no competitor. Muniru have you forgotten about 63,000 members voted 'NO' against John mahama being the flag bearer? if such a candidate rejected by his own party and the National elections was humiliated and you still think he is the best then there might be something wrong with the ndc. You will be the most st*pid to compare Nana Addo's candidature and the 2 times lose to a sitting president who lost gargantually. Nana Addo lost all those elections due to ndc manipulations and I don't know if they even think of not this time,if ndc think they can manipulate the 2020 elections then they are still sleeping and dreaming. Ghanaians are comfortable with this government even if there is no money in their pockets there is peace. Ndc will never come back to power if that John mahama spiritual leanings couldn't help him in power how can they help him in opposition when the unseen God who brought this government to power is still working, unless ndc is able to tie the hands and legs of the unseen GOD ADONAI before they can win elections in Ghana which is also impossible for their voodoo and god to do. We are serving and worshipping a living God who will never forsaken Us. Muniru or whatever you are called find some work to do to help your people, take advantage of the dams which will take of anytime from now and do farming to help Ghana since taking into politics as a career has been disaster for you ndc and there is nothing like try ndc again because there is nothing good in the ndc than ste*ling, wickedness, greediness, selfishness, deceptions, insults, arrogance, impunity, uncivil behaviors, h*te,env*ness and destroying of businesses owned by Ghanaians, agriculture, health and education. Ndc we still remember you and we haven't forgotten nothing.
Bring on the corrupt and incompetent John Mahama so that the ev!l NDC will finish from our politics after 2020.
Limuna or whatever your name is, Listen and listen well. The NDC party was formed long before John mahama came to lead and mess the party up. The party does not belong to John Mahama. We have a party to build and restructure. Such ***barred word*** is not needed at this time. I am tired of self seekers like yourself not seeing beyond their noses and their bank accounts. ***barred word***!
So you could steal from Ghanaians again right ??
WHY DO THESE SLIMY OAFS LIKE INSULTING LIKE THAT? BABA, I BET YOU ARE SOME THIN/DIM WITTED OAF!!!!!!!!
THEN NDC HAS NOTHING GOOD TO OFFER GHANAIANS. COUNT ME OUT!!!!!!!
You are an I.d.i.o.t
