Editor-in-Chief of the New Crusading Guide newspaper, Abdul Malik Kweku Baako has lashed out at the Minority in Parliament for predicting doom about the economy.
The Minority, on Monday, organized a roundtable breakfast discussion on the 2018 Budget and Economic Policy in Accra, where they claimed the government's economic policy for 2018 will potentially revert the country to the status of Heavily Indebted Poor Countries (HIPC) by the year 2019.
Ranking Member on the Finance Committee and Minority Spokesperson on Finance, Cassiel Ato Forson indicated the country's public debt had hiked up from GHC 122.6 billion in January this year to GHC 138.6 billion as of June 2017.

Addressing the Minority claims, Kweku Baako stated emphatically that the Akufo-Addo government inherited "an economy that was hugely challenged, if not in coma" from the erstwhile Mahama administration.
However, he believed that though the government inherited a country characterized by severe deficits, its quest for possible ways to revive the economy is remarkable.
In doing so, he held that the government has rolled out several socio-economic interventions, one of which he mentioned is the government's flagship programme "1 District, 1 Factory" which funds have been sourced to commence the project, to salvage the economy.
"...everybody knows the government inherited an economy that was hugely challenged, if not in coma”, he said on Peace FM's "Kokrokoo".
Mr. Baako further put to shame the doomsayers of the economy predicting a gloomy situation come 2018 saying "there’s no perfect system out there. I haven’t seen any perfect budget before. Whatever it is, this 2018 budget will show that there were areas especially revenue generation and so forth where we have difficulties. So, we will look at the ways and means the government will show how to deal with those challenges that came in 2017".

Much as i love you contribution especially on news file, I think you are wrong this time Mr. Baako. Leave the experts to do thier job. Beside do you truthfully think this economy is in good shape??? Please do a proper analysis and come clean. If you love npp, fire them to do a good job. Because as at now I personally think they are failing Ghanaians.
Kwaku Baako due to chop chop you do not want to tell the truth as the economy is not going well. You are playing hide and seek for NPP.
NPP fanatics, extremists, radicals, jihadists, terrorists and mafias. These are the type of people within the Party who have been radicalized to attack anybody who dares to point any wrongdoings in the governance system. Their chief operating officer is Kwaku Baako; followed by illiterates communication team members, then serial callers, then foot soldiers and the terrorist groups. Ghana is in the hands of dark forces and the unseen agents.
ONYAME BETUA MOKA ALL NDCFUO WHO HATE GHANA and wish the destruction of our nation nkwase*fuo like that want to be in power with no brains to think. Never again, we the good people of Ghana are the king makers and we hate ndc as they hate us so will never allow them any chance, they can spin, twist and turn nothing will work in their favour. We will vote for those who love our country and are patriotic not selfish and greedy wicked people with loud mouth. Let them take us for granted as usual and think it will be easier for them to come back with their unprecedented corruption, arrogance, thi*ving with impunity, insults and power drunk and think Ghanaians prefer show of power to good governance and they will regret they wasted their lives doing politics instead of going to the private sector to show their skills and what they can do for the country not what the country can do for them, after all we know most of the NPP appointees were self made already before coming into government so wouldn't be greedy and selfish like the ndc. The evil of the NPP is the angel of the ndc and the worst of the NPP is the best of the ndc so we prefer the evil NPP to the angel of the ndc. I'm one of the 54% who voted for change and haven't regretted a bit my thumb is reaping good results from good policies to make Ghana work again. Ndc never deceive yourselves you have a chance since this government is a listenng one and will amend whatever goes wrong which the people are not satisfied but not what ndc want because ndc don't really know what they want. We thank God for listening to our prayer to send away the ndc and brought us a good government acknowledged by the world. It's unbelievable for a president of less than a year to have his statue erected at another sister country. God is great. Whoever believeth in the Lord, the Lord will never forsake him. NPP the GOOD LORD IS WITH YOU SO NEVER BE SHAKEN BY THE ROARS OF THE LION, FOR THEY HAVE SHARP TEETH BUT CAN NEVER BITE YOU THE LORD IS IN CONTROL.
It is not even in near comatose my boss, the economy was in comatose when Nana took over. My boss pls stop wasting your breath on issues involving these ndc ple so that their babies with sharp teeth whose brains have also evaporated with the stuffs they smoke will not come for you. the incurable problem of these ndc ple and their followers is that they have no idea of what they talk about but bcos of politics they just have to open their mouth and talk rub..bish. they wont listen when the ple with the right knowledge are are talking. they just want to remain relevant in the eyes of their followers. the level of their ignorance just amazes me. how can a group of over "4 million" people not have one single person with a small brain? it is really surprising how they all are able to think alike. I have always said and this is a fact that ndc was not interested in retaining power in 2016 bcos they knew very well everything was out of their hand. they hard no idea what to do and they just cant hand over power just like that. they want npp to come and fix their mess and then find another way to come back. now with things looking to be on track they have turned prophets of doom trying to deceive the public. they are just a us3l3ss group of ple and must be ignored
Kwaku thank you very much for speaking the truth. I know some fuuuulish people will insult you but we love you. keep it up. NDC is so confused and disgruntled. Instead of the focusing on uniting thier party after that shameful defeat. they are talking economics. They took Ghana to IMF and now they are talking about economics. Why did the NDC run to IMF if they have sense. If the NDC know economics why did they mismanage the economy to the extent of going to the IMF for support. Such people are not credible to be taken serious.
Doing what is best from his pay masters
but who is baako to talk about economy infact u know nothing about economics but because of your stomach u always disgrace your self please if u want to talk about de economy go back to school and learn proparly before u can talk about things that people who are well educated in dat filed to discuss but not you a historian who because u can speak english can talk about past event to try to talk about things you haf no knowledge about stop disgracing your self and your family if you even haf one
In Ghana people talk without prove, but in the developed world, economist use numbers to prove their point, all one needs in Ghana is open your mouth like shark and speak anything, job done. I love both parties but I need NDC to give me alternative budget with numbers well calculated like the vise president use to do to them.
Well said, truth is one Kwaku Baako. What was dollar rate when late Atta Mills took place from Kuffor and how did Mahama manage it, Dollar was around $4.7 when NPP take place so the economy was not in good shap at all when NPP came to power. This country is for us so let us be honest and stop lies and propaganda please. God bless Ghana.
