The Extra Delegates Conference of the New Patriotic Party has been slated for the 17th of December, 2017.

The decision was taken at a National Executive Council meeting of the New Patriotic Party.

A Constitutional Amendment committee was outdoored at a short ceremony by the governing New Patriotic Party(NPP) at the party’s headquarters on Thursday, September 14, 2017 to oversee the party’s constitutional amendments process.

The 11-member committee which was chaired by 1st Vice Chairman of the party, Mr. F.F Anto yesterday submitted their report to the National Executive Council of the party.

Speaking on Okay FM's 'Ade Akye Abia' programme, Acting General Secretary and National Organizer of the Party, John Boadu added that it was also concluded that the conference should be held in the Ashanti Region.

He added that the conference will afford party members and executives to make certain amendments in the party's constitution as they prepare for their general elections to elect party executives.

"In this regard the National Executive Council has extended the term of office of all current executives for the region to National level to three (3) months until new elections are made to elect new executives for the party," he added.

He also mentioned a resolution taken at the meeting states that any Party Executive whether at the regional or constituency level and MMDCE's who decides to contest as a Member of Parliament for any constituency should resign 3 years to the elections.

"We realized that the issue of party officials and their members of parliament fighting to become MPs have affected various political parties including our own political party the NPP, and we will not allow that to happen again," he disclosed.

Mr.Boadu also mentioned that they have put everything in place to ensure a successful conference.

According to him a number of activities have been lined up for party members and officials, adding that we have asked party members and officials to cooperate fully with executives to ensure that all activities are carried out successfully.
