President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has absolved the Trade Minister, Alan Kyerematen of any wrongful conduct regarding the "extortion" allegations against him and his Ministry.
According to a statement signed by the Information Minister Mustapha Hamid, following the President's query to the Trade Minister; "the facts, as reported to the President, do not disclose any wrong doing on the part of the Minister or any governmental official".
"The President has therefore asked the Minister to put those facts before the Ghanaian people," the statement further read.
The President's statement is in response to allegations by Minority Chief Whip, Alhaji Muntaka Mubarak on the floor of Parliament last Friday over alleged illegal charges imposed on expatriate businesses by the Ministry during the recent Ghana Expatriates Business Awards.
He revealed that the Ministry charged participants $100,000 to sit closer to the President at the awards held on Friday, December 8, 2017 at the Movenpick Hotel in Accra.
This resulted in a near fisticuffs between the Deputy Minister for Trade and Industry, Carlos Ahenkorah and the Minority Spokesperson on Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa at Parliament when the latter was addressing the issue in an interview with the press.
Mr. Ablakwa described the move by the Trade Ministry as "extortion, dubious and unethical" and hoped the President and the Members of the Legislative House would sanction the sector Minister and his deputy.
Mr. Ahenkorah interrupted the interview accusing Mr. Ablakwa of being a thief.

Hahaha....hmmm...good job Mr president......
Remote controlled supporters will support anything. We are all watching
@ Pepprah like NDC will NEVER believe anything, because of the CORRUPTION in them, even if something is genuine, they do not see it. Propaganda has ENGULFED them. They are trying HARD ti tag NPP as also corrupt so that they can say 'yen yinaa abro pe'. Look at Ayariga and how 'Ofrigyato'?
Much Ado about Nothing! if you dissect the explanations given so far for the misdeeds surronding the $100K For a Seat near the President, and keep your own counsel. You would realize that there was distortion and delibrate attempt to discredit a genuine idea to promote foreign Investment. You will agree with me here, that NDC only sees how it can make gain out of cheap Propaganda. To make political gain shouldn't always be diabolic in manner but constructive critques and good ideas reign supreme. NDC relies too much on street and cheap politicking, lies, defamation and PROPAGANDA whilst NPP is selling transformational Policies going away from the folly of doing the same thing, over and over again and expecting different results. The President, and as I affectionately call him NANA has been very emphatic about his policy guidelines anytime he mounts a platform and they are getting into the DNA of Ghanaians. The fundamental Philosophy of the NPP, Property owning Democracy never fall short, and the President has been very consistent. Though, the NDC sillily tout it as failure to walk the talk. How can you access a Government which is bearly a year old of such a feat. And our dear President cannot do anything better than instilling in Ghanaians that we can all Change the challenges and do it better as we deserve like our peers. To conclude, I say it once again that, the credibility, honesty and incorruptibility Of our President (Nana) in the face of Ghanaians and Ghanaian politic is intact. And NDC is just beating about the buush in its attempt to discredit that. Asem S€ b
Am not surprise for this turn of events, you want Ghanaians to believe this. Mr president call the spade the spade, the whole issue is tainted with corruption in its highest level and a clear demostration of very incompetent govt
