NDC Communicator, Bernard Anim Piesie has raised concerns over the swearing in of the Speaker of Parliament, Prof. Mike Oquaye, to act as President of the country.
The President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, left Ghana on Sunday, January, 21 to attend the inauguration ceremony of the President-elect of the Republic of Liberia, His Excellency George Weah, which is scheduled to take place on Monday, 22nd January, 2018, in Monrovia, Liberia.
He was accompanied by the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hon. Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey; the Minister for Finance, Ken Ofori-Atta; Minister for National Security, Albert Kan Dapaah; and officials from the Presidency.
The Vice President is also absent from Ghana due to his ill health. He's in the United Kingdom receiving medical attention.
Given the absence of the Vice President, Hon. Mike Oquaye in accordance with Article 60(11) of the Constitution act in his stead.
Anim Piesie, speaking to host Kwami Sefa Kayi on Peace FM's 'kokrokoo', wondered why the Speaker of Parliament was sworn in to act as President.
According to him, though it is constitutional, there should be a proper way for things to be done when the President and the Veep are away from the country.
Having said this, Anim Piesie however offered that in a state where the Speaker of Parliament must be sworn in the President's stead; it should be done in the Chief Justice's office.
He noted the convention of the Members of Parliament to the House for the Speaker to be sworn in is apparently a waste of money.
To him, the nation could have save money should the Chief Justice swear the Speaker in her office rather than Parliament.

NDC hake me ANGRY sometimes. When did 'this' guy know that Doe Ajaho wasted public funds as Speaker sworn in as president in their time?
why is it that these people always want to talk even if they have nothing to talk about. Is this the first time they are swearing in the speaker of parliament as the president of Ghana, pls these people should give us a break.Come on
This guy is just displaying his ignorance. Is he wiser than those who made the law? I'm sure its for the safety of the nation. Besides, doing this act in parliament means the whole nation is present, since all MP's represent the voices of the people.
This man has ready answers...for everything.
I wonder why NDC party still allows this man to speak for them.He is an ex-convict of drug charges in the USA.He finished his jail term in 1986 and was deported to Ghana. He has no shame and continue to parade himself as NDC communicator.
so when it was being done uner the ndc where was this man?
Someone should help this man to visit Ankaful or Pantan psychiatric hospital for examination.
hahaha... that provision is there for security reasons which could still be valid today. Mr. Anim Piesie should be conversant with the spirit behind it. He must be an ***barred word*** to suggest otherwise.
It's always appalling when you hear this NDC guys speaking. They are just coming out of government and he should tell us what they did. You see karma
