Maverick member of parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong, has refuted claims that he was prevented from seeing Vice-President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia at his London hospital.
It was reported in the Herald newspaper that Mr. Agyapong, who was in London to attend a memorial service of Joseph Ayi Ankrah, father to Ray Ankrah, the Financial Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the United Kingdom (UK) tried to see Vice-President Bawumia, but was not allowed.
According to the paper, an angry Ken Agyapong, has been expressing his displeasure to some of his party’s executives in the UK over the matter.
A release from the Flagstaff house last Friday indicated that the Vice President of the Republic, Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia was feeling unwell and thus had undergone some medical tests and observation.
The release which was signed by Eugene Arhin, Director of Communications at the Presidency, was later followed by another release from the Chief of Staff, Frema Opare, who stated that the Veep had left the country for UK in the company of his wife, Samira Bawumia, on the advice of his doctors.
Later reports suggested that Mr. Kennedy Agyapong was prevented from seeing the Vice President for fear that he might go public with on his medical condition to embarrass the Akufo-Addo government which has been controlling the situation.
However speaking on Adom TV Tuesday, the NPP MP said he did not know that the Vice President had even been flown to the UK for treatment or anything of its kind until he run into the Second Lady, Hajia Samira Bawumia at Landmark hotel while having his breakfast.
“I was at the Landmark hotel and as I got down to take my breakfast I was informed by Yoofi Grant that the Veep had collapsed and has been rushed to the hospital.
“We were still sitting at the restaurant when we saw Samira who was also around and told us about Bawumia’s health but added that he is doing well to which I asked her to send my regards to him.
He explained that he wanted the Vice President to have enough rest and therefore never bothered to visit since Hajia Samira Bawumia had told him everything he needed to know.
He continued that “The following day we saw Samira again and she told us she has delivered my message to him and we laughed” he explained.
“I never visited the hospital. In fact, I didn’t know the route to the hospital. I only told Samira to wish him well and so I don’t understand why people are claiming I was prevented from seeing him.
“When I learned he was sick, I just told myself it was fatigue and therefore he needed to rest so where from that baseless report? I never went there. Even his bodyguards respects me and always bow to me and would never sack me” he quizzed.
Meanwhile, the Minister of State in charge of National Security, Bryan Acheampong has revealed that Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is expected to return to Ghana from the United Kingdom (UK) latest by Friday, February 2, 2018.

Most Ghanaians did not know the veeps' conditions wasserious up to the point of fainting/collapsing.... thanks a lot he info Mr. big mouth Kennedy.
Peace fm reporters should please set their cameras and recorders at Adenta frafraha towards the commandos stretch of the area as the research institute is digging huge trenches and carting in piles of sand, blocks and chippings to wall off residents most of whom have been living there for the past 15years.Thier next step has been bringing in bulldozers and graders to start a demolition of over these 1000 homes. This has made the daily commute of over 1000 residents there unbearable as most of them cannot go to work with s one even taking leave off work for almost a week to protest. There is also the possibility of a clash with the youth and residents with a demonstration to their office this week.Politicians and civil society must act to avert any danger.Ghana has a housing deficit so if all these houses are demolished where will these people go?Many arm robbers, thiefs, prostitutes, unemployed, drunkards, drug addicts etc etc will be unleashed on society.
Yeah we expect the usual running around the tarmac. Bloody politicians
