Seasoned journalist and Managing Editor of the Insight newspaper, Kwesi Pratt has expressed surprise at the sudden unique bond of cordiality between President Nana Akufo-Addo and Ex-President Jerry John Rawlings.
Before becoming President of the Republic, Nana Akufo-Addo was believed to have a bone of contention to pick with the former President politically, and maybe socially as well.
Both individuals were pictured to be unfriendly sharing no congenial relationship with each other, but there have several occasions witnessed by the general public - beginning a few weeks to the 2016 general polls and later after the elections - where President Akufo-Addo and Mr. Rawlings have been spotted exchanging pleasantries to purport they have a unique compatibility.
This is perhaps what boggles Kwesi Pratt's mind as he sought to find out what really has changed to bring about this new friendship between the two.
On Thursday, February 8, 2018, President Akufo-Addo was at Parliament delivering the State of the Nation Address where he indicated that he draws inspiration from the leadership qualities of Mr. Rawlings.
Speaking on Peace FM's Kokrokoo, Kwesi Pratt was surprised at the President statement wondering how come someone who initially had no ties with Mr. Rawlings would today give indication of him being his source of inspiration.
Mr. Pratt, making his submissions on the programme, kept repeating the phrase "Times change" to suggest that today, Mr. Rawlings and Akufo-Addo are almost best of friends because of a new season.
“Do remember what NPP members did to me in this country, Ghana? Why have I gone to his (Rawlings) house? But today, your Presidential candidate is saying he is his inspiration. He inspires him (Akufo-Addo). His principles, his fight and so on inspired him…Today, your Presidential candidate says JJ Rawlings is his inspiration. Not that he has gone to his house or shaken his hands, he’s his inspiration. Times really change!" he said.

Was Kwesi Pratt not Rawlings friend? Now he and the Ahwoi brothers have succeeded in making him nobody in the party. Time changes ampa.
The president of a whole country indulging in trivialities and opportunism. Anyway both of them are weevil. Meanwhile they both smoke weed and are evil.but in all blame the satanic konadu
HARUNA NDC IS CRUMBLING UNDER YOUR LEADERSHIP. YOUR OWN ATTITUDE AND BEHAVIOUR HAVE INSPIRED AYARIGA, OKUDZETO, MUNTAKA, SUHININI AND OTHERS TO BEHAVE INAPPROPRIATELYYY IN PARLIAMENT. YOU MIGHT NOT HAVE TAKEN PART BUT WHAT THE NDC MPS DID AT SONA WAS VERY BAD. THE NOO NOO NOO TO NANA KONADU, WHEN ACKNOWLEDGED, WAS CHILDISHH AND SHAMEFULLL OF YOU, NDC MPS. WHY DO YOU ATTEMPT TO SHIFT THE BLAME. DID NAN ADDO ASK YOU TO DO THAT SENSELESSS ACTION. YOU BETTER WAKE UP LEAD YOUR PEOPLE TO APOLOGISE TO JJ AND HIS WIFE. YOU WERE SO DISRESPECTFULLL AND DISGRACEFULL. YOU SIT IN GHANA AND CRY WHEN TRUMP CALL YOU SHITHOLE. YOUR ACTION WAS A SHITHOLE. WHAT YOU DID NEVER HAPPENED AT TRUMP SONA WHICH WAS SO BEAUTIFUL. HIS PARTY, THE REPUBLICANS, CLAPPED AND STOOD ANYTIME TRUMP MADE AN INTERESTING STATEMENT. THE DEMOCRATS SAT QUIETLY WITHOUT CLAPPING NOR STANDING, EXCEPT ON RARE OCCASIONS. IT WAS NOT LIKE THAT IN GHANA. YOU WERE SO NOISYYY AND DISGRACEFUL THAN SCHOOL BOYS. THERE WERE NO DECORUM. I HOPE, AS PART OF THE LEADERSHIP OF PARLIAMENT, YOU WILL WORK HARD WITH YOUR COUNTERPARTS TO BRING DECORUM AND DIGNITY TO THE PARLIAMENT IF YOU WANT TO BE REMEMBERED AS A GOOD OPPOSITION LEADER. SO FAR YOU HAVE FAILED WOEFULLY.
The Book of Ecclesiastes states there is time for everything. One must know the right thing to do at the right time. Kwesi , perhaps you chose a wrong time to go to JJ. One ability to know the right action at the right time is very essential. It determines whether one is wise or not. So don't act anyhow and expect it to be right.
Indeed, if all persons are asking this question it shouldn't be the person of Kwesi Pratt joining in the queue to ask this question. To me, it is just like a celebrated journalist whose Level of civic education baffles a Student of Journalism. Our President is not only Pesident of those who like him, respect, share the same priciples and political ideology with him but also his opponents.Even criminals have their day in court of competent jurisdiction. Yet our celebrated Journalist has lost his reasons and belied his intellectual honesty-if he has any.
What's wrong with that? This is a pure display of maturity. So you wished they remained enemies for life. Wise up,Pratt, man is growing. Learn from their example and go patch up with all those you hate.
Was Nana Addo not his lawyer when he was arrested in 1979? You Kwesi Pratt, were you not Nana Addo's ally during the struggles? Why did you turn around and start calling him a 'wee' smoker who cannot lead the nation? Is it not because your palms were greased by the Mahama government? I am sure once you are able to answer these questions you will be able to figure out what is happening between the two
Such is life Mr Opportunist Pratt. this is the way to a beautiful life. making amends with our enemies and leaving happily together as one. I will be surprised if it was the other way round. that is, two best friends becoming enemies which is your kind of lifestyle by the way. u use to be friends with Kweku Baako that I even thought you guys were relatives but not anymore, you use to be a member of CPP but now a member of NDC and the list goes on and on. I am not surprised that you are surprised at the relationship between Nana and Papa J and it is only the devil and his agents that want to see us fight among ourselves all the time. Are you the devil or one of his agents?
It could be surprising. However, since Nana Akufo Addo in a meet the press series during President time said ''The then all powerful J J Rawlings'' refering to the revolutionary era, I got the impression he has a genuine admiration for President Rawlings. Also, it seems we have short memories: In the run down to the 2012 elections, Nana Akufo Addo paid a surprise visit to Ex President Rawlings & they had a healthy chat. The two gentlemen have a mutual admiration for each other.
Mr Pratt, you were once a friend to Nana Addo, why the breakup, besides you you were very close to Kwaku Baako, but somewhere along the line you betrayed him to be jailed.
