Former Attorney General, Martin Alamisi Amidu in an article, accused John Mahama and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) of appointing Charlotte Osei to the Electoral Commission to rig the 2016 election in its favour.

Although the NDC was defeated by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) during the last election, Mr. Amidu insisted that “…as I said time without number during the 2016 elections, she was appointed by a corrupt Government precisely because of her incompetence that made her susceptible for use for an election rigging agenda.”

Speaking to this issue when he appeared before the Appointment Committee of Parliament on Tuesday following a question put to him by a member of the Committee, Martin Amidu queried why the erstwhile Mahama administration did not take him to court to provide evidence to his claims.

According to him, the NDC were afraid of losing the case that was why "they didn’t say anything when I made those comments".

He was also of the view that, since Madam Charlotte Osei is engulfed in a case in court, it will be prejudicial to provide information on the subject matter.

"I would have wished that at the time I was making this claim, the government should have picked me, quizzed me and sent me to court so I will prove my case there. It is too late in the day to ask me to provide an answer now when the EC chair is currently before the Chief Justice with a possible impeachment hanging around her neck," he indicated.

Classic case of a man suffering from some form derangement of the mind. How can anyone challenge allegations made based on perceptions and beliefs? Make wild allegations, when challenged you tell us, is based on perceptions. And this is a man takes offence when he is described as a person who gloats, but he is quick to call the EC Chair incompetent? Thank God, one day we will die and pride leads no where. The arrogance and the low emotional intelligence exhibited yesterday, should make this man unqualified to lead any office, anywhere in any decent society. God is watching.

Really this man Amidu can surely do his job very perfectly bcos he seems not afraid of anyone with the seal he has so far exhibited. We need such people in Ghana not just for the politicians but also for those who throw garbage (BOLA) outside or into gutters. All these because Ghana is living in a SSSSHHHHIIIITTTT HOLE

Please ask Bawumia you will surely be judged same. You knew adeucing evidence was difficult but u made claims against someone. Called to answer u saying why did not challenge u in court. Time is best judge for mankind. And calling a sitting president loota and defended that was a perception. Nature has a way of dealing with dishonesty

The man was asked about a statement he made about Charlotte and he answered it, restricting himself not to wade into the impeachment case. So, where did he go wrong? I LIKE HIS SENSE OF FIRMNESS AND BRAVADO.
