Managing Editor of the Insight newspaper, Kwesi Pratt has hit hard at former President Jerry John Rawlings for speculating that the recent robberies might be politically motivated.
Ex-President Rawlings, in a Twitter message on Thursday, reminded security agencies in the country that they “owe us the responsibility of keeping the nation safe and secured. Let us all confront this menace with utmost confidence and professionalism while ensuring that no one, high or low takes advantage of our vulnerabilities."
He also hoped the “recent robbery and killings is downright plain robbery and not a politically motivated action from within or without, calculated to undermine those in charge of the security machinery in order to pave the way for certain parochial ambitions”.
Responding to Mr. Rawlings’ comments, Kwesi Pratt without mincing words described the comments as “baseless”.
According to him, leaders in the nation should desist from making “baseless accusation” which obviously comes with “no evidence, nothing”.
Mr. Pratt rather called for a national consensus on developing an approach that can help to combat crime in the country and strengthen the security structures as well.
He told host Kwami Sefa Kayi on Peace FM’s Kokrokoo that the robberies are a “national problem which calls for national consensus”, hence called on the leadership of the Ghana Police Service to employ the services of any individual with expertise to fight crime.
Mentioning names such as the former Greater Accra Regional Police Commander, Madam Rose Atinga Bio and former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mohammed Alhassan among others, Kwesi Pratt asked “why don’t we have a bi-partisan approach or multi-partisan approach, bring everybody who has something to contribute and seek national solution to a national problem?”

FROM THE DAY, YOU LOST CONFIDENCE IN THE GREAT ALLIANCE, YOU LOST YOUR CREDIBILITY AS A JOURNALIST. YOU MADE IT AS A JOURNALIST, IMMEDIATELY YOU BECAME A POLITICIAN, YOU STARTED YOUR DOWNWARD JOURNEY TO THE HALL OF NOTORIETY. YOU'VE LOST YOUR CREDIBILITY. YOU ARE A DISASTER TO FREEDOM OF SPEECH. YOU STILL HAVE A CHANCE TO REMAKE AND REMOULD YOUR IMAGE.
JUST A FEW OF THE DISADVANTAGES OF THE DEMON'S CRACY.
I really don't know what's wrong with this Kwesi Pratt and attacking of people on their comments. If I read the story right, I think Rawlings said, "He hope." He did not definitely said it is so why attack him? Can't people express their opinions anymore in Ghana, especially if it's not for the NDC? Kwesi Pratt seem to just always want to attack people on what they say. He's used that to make his name and it has become worse since he started getting paid by NDC to work for them.
I do not understand Kwesi Pratt in many ways. You can hardly envisage his credibility when it comes to matters of national concerns beyond parochial politicking and hypocrisy.I think a senior journalist as he claims to be or accorded him, he should be mindful to distinguish between populism and genuine and informed contribution to burning issues of national security. I do not agree with the former President on many issues but as a former Head of State, he was right to say what he said in terms of making a cautious statement bordering on the professionalism of our security system. Indeed, Kwesi Pratt could make his contribution as he did without attacking the former President as making a baseless statement as if-perception is only alien to the Former President but Kwesi Pratt.
The Burkinabe whose imported guns which were arrested prior to the 2016 elections in Kumasi (in trucks) and a big man ordered for it to Accra...... The question is...where are the guns... I strongly believed these same guns a being used against us in the form of armed robbery.. NPP government must investigate and asked the big man who gave the orders..
Kwasi, if you know the robbers, point them out. Because you have access press, you always abuse it. What was J J's message that led to your infantile reply. Sometimes you throw maturity away and just cast aspersions. Please read what Papa J said again before you come out because there us great wisdom in it. Wicked politicians who gave looted our resources can do it but he warned that it shouldn't be the case. Is this crime? I wish you take a political position for Ghanaians to know your output
There is a story on Ghanaweb about a statement Otumfuo is reported to have made in Malta. I know this is not the topic but I wanted to post my comments under this topic anyway as they are censoring comments on that article. So this is my two cents. We have not planned for anything. How long have we mined gold in Obuasi and how has that transformed just even Obuasi? In Dubai 40 years after the discovery of oil, and with the oil nearly or almost exhausted, you can see, feel and appreciate the benefits of the resource, from intelligent leadership. We hav resources, human and material that would transform our societies, the whole of Africa, to be the Dubai's x100. So the question is why are we not and why is Obuasi like how it is, over centuries of gold, yes gold exploitation? When Mahama stole the monies we are told he found Dubai a nice place to own a couple of propertyies. In 20-30 years our oil resources will be exhausted, that is about 5 to 7 election cycles. How do we see this country after 7 election cycles? Intelligent leadership with vision, incorruptible, focused, determined and resolute about the development of our country and continent can achieve this in less time, if they are just patriotic enough. Nobody will change Africa for us, centuries of exploitation has shown it transformed their societies not ours, so we get better get serious about our development, progress and prosperity for the peoples of Africa.
🤓🤓 Are You referring to that "i fear to start first on panel discussions"man ?Forget about him.He is just an attention_seeker.He always want someone to say something before he jumps in.He doesn't have the b*rain of his own when it comes to decision- making.
kwesi pratt is scared of the bare truth...eventually, he will be exposed...possibly, this year, 2018.
