Vice President of Imani Africa has hinted that the ruling NPP could lose votes of electorates listing their supposed shortfalls which he termed as ‘political sins’.
Kofi Bentil’s prediction comes after the whole country was thrown in a state of panic over the arrest of NDC firebrand Koku Anyidoho for making allegedly treasonous comment on Accra-based Happy FM.
He stated categorically that, the decision to arrest and detain Koku Anyidoho’s for two days was not right in the eyes of the law.
He also said that if the governing NPP thinks that the mass protests against the GH-US military pact was in the minority’s interest alone, they should be careful as it was a move which indicates a national rejection.
“Think wrongly that the demo against US agreement was an NDC demo! It was a national rejection. Take heed,” he warned in a Facebook post.
Koku Anyidoho was arrested Tuesday afternoon for allegedly making treasonous remarks on Accra-based Happy FM.
He had said on air that, president Nana Akufo-Addo will be overthrown just like his father was in 1972.
“On January 13, 1972, a certain Col. Ignatius Kutu Acheampong led a movement that removed the Progress Party from power. Busia was the Prime Minister and Akufo-Addo’s father was a ceremonial president. Somebody should tell Nana Akufo-Addo that history has a very interesting way of repeating itself. There’ll be a civil revolt,” Mr Anyidoho said in an interview.
He has since been charged with treason and will be arraigned before court.
By law the police have 48 hours within which to keep a suspect after which they must proceed to court to ask for remand if they still want to keep the suspect.
Thursday afternoon is 48 hours, since Anyidoho was arrested in dramatic fashion at the International Press Centre.

Bentil's comments and analysis has exposed his hypocrisy. From day one opposition NDC have made it clear that they are going to make things difficult for Nana Addo who they feel doesn't deserve to be a President of Ghana for their own reasons. Koku Anidaho was the first person to throw dust into the eyes of Ghanaians that JDM was in comfortable lead in total disrespect of the elections results coming out that time. He personally has a bizarre personal hatred against Nana Addo and it's obvious he can't hide it. The Minority NDC has been politically mischievous from day one by causing confusion including corruption allegations from Energy Minister to Finance and Trade and industry Minister. They were unsuccessful. They started preaching about high cost of electric tariffs which they thought would be impossible to the government to deal with and to their surprise it has come down drastically. They seems to have no ideas of how Nana Addo does his things and have changed their strategies with propaganda to bring him down. Honestly that propaganda tactics is the effective tool in communication and I am not surprised of getting into the perception of people including intellectuals like Bentil. Many NPP supporters as I speak are convinced that there somehow US military base in Ghana and Ghana Sovereignty has been sold including Bentil which is unfortunate. Be aware Ghanaians of fake news and media propaganda. I for one believe Ghana is on the right path . There maybe ups and downs but that doesn't means you give back the Nation to NDC Party who has nothing to offer but to loot and share. They are scared of Martin Amidu knowing that most of them will face prosecution including Lordina Mahama so they are trying to cause commotion to destabilise Ghana. Watch out...
VERY VERY INTERESTING! WHEN GNPC WAS MISUSING MONEY THROUGH GFA NO ONE HEARD FROM YOU;HAVE YOU CHECKED THE NUMBER OF SCHOLARSHIPS GIVEN OUT BY GNPC? WHEN NDC HAD A MILITARY ARRANGEMENT WITH US IN 1998 & 2015 YOU WERE MUTE; WHEN KENEDY AGYAPONG WAS ARRESTED YOU WERE NOT HEARD; NDC COMING BACK TO POWER? NA LIE! YOUR PARTY'S RIGGING MECHANISM HAS BEEN NEUTRALIZED. NDC IS THE MOST CORRUPT PARTY IN THE HISTORY OF THE NATION. NDC HAVE NO EMPATHY; THEY OPPOSE THE FREE SHS AND REDUCTION OF UTILITY PRICE. YOU ARE OBVIOUSLY AN NDC PERSON - YOU DON'T SEE ANYTHING GOOD WITH NPP GOVT I WONDER WHY USA CONTINUE TO GIVE VISA TO SUCH PERSONS AND OTHER FIERCE CRITICS OF USA TO VISIT AMERICA
What exactly has Kofi Bentil said wrong to deserve this bashing from my fellow NPP sympathisers? We should be very careful not to create another set of 'babies with piecing teeth' on this platform. This is exactly what NDC did and lost the 2016 elections. They didn't see the loss coming just as I didn't see the 2008 loss coming. The NPP government's actions are helping to galvanize the opposition NDC.NDC is re-organizing and strengthening its base.Anybody who is oblivious to this is politically naive.Oppositions parties don't win elections it is incumbent party that loose election. NPP has enough lessons in their repertoire to avoid another fatal loss.Ghanaians will not forgive you if you refuse to learn from your lessons and loose the election prematurely to a political party which calls itself "Social Democrats" and yet cannot boost of a single social intervention. My father tells me,in 1979,your disagreements led to the Late President Limann winning the elections and by extension leading to PNDC mis-rule for 19 good years. In 2007,some 17 plus people got their political libidos awaken in what was liken to a political concert party.Ghanaians didn't like that and punished NPP at the pools. Is NPP learning any lessons from these past failures? In politics, you do well to avoid unnecessary noise. What would have happened to this country if we had avoided this infamous US-Military deal? NPP might have won the legal debate on this, but the opposition parties are run-away winners on the social debate.Winning series of social debates give an opposition party a lot of gravitas to win election.PERIOD!! Lets see a lot more social interventions and a quick implementation of our electoral promises to regain our lost stature in the eyes of the electorate. We should also avoid 'noise-infused' legislations and policies. A word to the Wise ....................
Who cares. all that i wanted to see in my life time id nana addo becoming president.
Akufo-Addo: Many Ghanaians have observed that school children these days don't sing the National Anthem or say the national pledge often. In fact some children throughout their schooling days in most second cycle schools did not sing the anthem even once. They aren't even taught patriotic songs. Akufo-Addo must ensure that supervision of our schools by regional and district directors of education is improved
***barred word***,KEEP YOUR ADVICE TO YOURSELF,WE ARE ALL EDUCATED PEOPLE.Every Ghanaian knows that NDC SIGNED A SIMILAR DOCUMENT AND THE ISSUE IS NOT ABOUT A MILITARY BASE.WHAT YU ARE SAYING IS RUBBISH RUBBISH RUBBISH
Lose to who?
Those who are peeved by Kofi benstil comment are living in Jupiter. Most of us never thought NDC could lose in 2000 when Rawlings was the president. We did not also think NPP could lose in 2008. In 2016, because of the developmental projects undertaken by NDC people didn't expect them to lose so hugely especially, being government in power. I thought a wise supporter would rather analyze things and advice his government to be careful.
I am appalled by the way Npp sympathizers are so intolerant. This man is only cautioning your government so why the insults from infantile minds.
Hello Bentil, that is your prediction but situation on the ground shows that NPP will win again. Forget about what is going on now. The youth are looking for jobs and NPP government is doing all what it can to help them to get what they are looking for. Allawa has come back, free SHS, and mass recruitment is going to take place in police, military, nursing and teaching serviceto absorb the teaming population. All this would send NDC far away from winning so don't panic.
