President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and his government have come under intense criticism after presenting a list of staff under the Office of President to Parliament.
The government is accused of overstaffing the Presidency with the number of employees being up to 998.
Information Minister, Mustapha Hamid, earlier this week, reportedly claimed the number was lesser as compared to the Mahama-led administration and even added that the NPP is operating with a budget lesser than what the previous administration had.
The Center for Democratic Development (CDD)-Ghana has expressed disappointment in President Akufo-Addo’s decision to continue the trend of over-staffing at the Presidency, given the public concerns raised over his appointment last year of 110 Ministers and Deputy Ministers.
Some political figures and socio-economic commentators including a section of Ghanaians have also expressed disgust over the "super-sized" Presidential staff, stressing the number is untenable.
In analyzing the issues, the NDC have been digging up the past by making reference to what the NPP said about the number that was recorded under the erstwhile Mahama administration.
In their attempt at equalization, the opposition party cannot fathom why the ruling party would want to justify the current list of number of employees at the Presidency, when a few years back, they roundly condemned the National Democratic Congress (NDC) when they (NDC) were in power.
But Abdul Malik Kweku Baako, Editor-in-Chief of the New Crusading Guide is not having none of that.
According to him, they, themselves, indulge in equalization when it suits them but when it doesn't; then they would raise concerns about someone trying to make references to buttress their submissions.
He told host Kwami Sefa Kayi on Peace FM's 'Kokrokoo' programme that "those who shout equalization, they are cowards. Political cowards, that’s what they are. When you make an assertion and they respond by saying this is equalization, those people are cowards. They’re people scared of examining their past. Those people, they’re damn scared of their past being put on the table for critical examination; and I’ve seen that their defensive mechanism is to shout equalization. But watch carefully, they themselves indulge in that thing they call equalization when it suits them; every time. So, I’ve seen it’s deliberate policy that they’ve intentionally launched to try and stop people who want to expose them for their hypocrisy and double standards”.
Touching further on the issue of over-staffing at the Presidency, Kweku Baako stated that there's enough record to show that both the NPP and NDC “across the divide, on each occasion this matter has come up, they took a stand which is not consistent with what they had taken earlier”.

Mr. Baako and Chairman General, good work done today and both of you have made our wednesdays worth listening to. The NDC folks will never appreciate ya views but will appreciate that of Mr. Pratt who sings their praise. My beef with this 998 chaps is simply because, whoever put it out, did not distinguish between civil/public servants and political appointees. Are the Zuza folks expecting NANA ADDO to work with the JDM appointees? I am even angry that Nana has not sacked those employees recruited in 2016. They are sabotaging his vision and should be watchful of such. For the ndc folks, you are going to live with this till 2020. Nana's promises weren't made to be fulfilled in 1 year & 4 months. Thanks!! No insults!!!
Kweku is just too good to shame you, make you comfortable and stop your propaganda hysteria. For, he never makes a baseless argument and his documents are authentic. And no amount of mischief here can be done to discredit him by degrading his documents as bogus. If indeed, we had a few journalists of the caliber Kweku Baako in Ghana, it would really go a long way to make a tremendous positive impact in the body politics of Ghana. The likes of the journalistic performance of Kwesi Pratt is counterproductive and I stoop it so low as NDC-pay and 'stomach' press.Hardly had Kwesi opened his mouth and you could exactly tell where he was coming from.
All should relegate Kweku Baako to the backburner. He will NEVER say anything evil about NPP but be quick to open his month wide to condemn NDC at the least opportunity.
This man walks around with outdated fake documents, as if he was everywhere during nkrumah regime and the coup time. he walks around with hear say docs claiming to be facts, and kwame sefa kayi also believes all he says , and gives him credence . why can't people ask him how he got his documents blah blah blah , man ur docs don't work we are in computer age so shut da ***barred word*** up and stop protecting one sided party all coz they serve your interest . bunch of cowards yet walk around with their shoulder high. people shoule ask him how he came about his documents or someone told himand he wtote them down, are we not facing the same thing today with journalist and media houses in the pocket of ndc / npp .. kwashiya nibi soooor ehw3 ghanaians , a ***barred word*** is the last to know , pple ought to be mart and read thru ***barred word*** fake pple who only think about thier interest
That is because you cannot debate. I have propossed several times that our education system should incorporate a compulsory module on debating. Our lack or incapacity to debate on issues is hurting us. It has to be introduced in our secondary schools as a matter of urgency. Lets all advocate for it as a matter of national crisis. We are not developing because anyone thinks they can insult out of a situation. It is bringing us back. We have not critically looked at issues, develope processes and effected evaluative models because someone will insult out of the situation. Please this is a heartfelt suggestion. Amen.
IT RATHER DEFFICULT READING YOUR COMMENT HERE, YOU SEEM TO BE CONFUSED AND BEAVING LIKE A CHICKEN BRIAN AND YOU SERIOUSLY NEED TO GO CHECK IT UP. THIS ARE SOME OF THE THINGS KWAKU BAAKO IS TALKING ABOUT. YOU ARE HAVE ALREADY CRITICS THE MEMBERS THE GOV'T HAS PRESENTED TO PARLIAMENT BUT ALSO REFUSED TO UNDERSTAND THAT THAT NUMBERS WHICH YOU HAVE CRITICIZED IS NOT ONLY FROM THE GOV'T OF THE DAY BUT IT WAS A BUILD UP FROM THE EX GOV'T NDC THAT LEFT ALMOST 900 PEOPLE TO WORK FOR THE SEAT OF GOV'T. YOU ARE FEEL TO CRITICIZE BUT DO IT WITH YOUR HEAD AND NOT YOUR HURT FOR THE GOV'T .

KWAME WE ALL KNOW YOU WILL NEVER LIKE NDC WHICH IS YOUR PEROGATIVE BUT IF YOU ARE BROADCASTING TO AN ENTIRE NATION PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE STOP INTERRUPTING THE NDC PEOPLE AS YOU DO NOT DO THE SAME WITH THE NPP PEOPLE. YOU MAY NOT KNOW THIS BUT WE ARE ALL NOT NDC BUT WE LIKE TO HEAR FROM SOURCES THAT WE DO NOT SUPPORT. KWAKU YOU ARE QUICKLY LOSING CREDIBILITY. THE NPP GAVE A LOT OF PROMISES AND THEY HAVE NOT DELIVERED. MAYBE THEY WILL DO SOMETHING WHICH I DO NOT KNOW SO DO NOT DEFEND THIS NUMBER OF EMPLOYEES AT THE SEAT OF GOVERNMENT.
