Vice Chairman of the Public Interest and Accountability Committee, Mr Kwame Jantuah is demanding that President Akufo-Addo orders the suspension of Hajia Fati, following her assault on a female journalist.
Hajia Fati although apologised to Ohemaa Sakyiwaa Awehenepa of Adom FM days after slapping the journalist who was undertaking her official duty at the NPP headquarters on May 4, 2018, many don’t see her apology remorseful enough.
The incident happened barely two days after the world marked Press Freedom Day in Ghana. President Akufo-Addo had touted the country’s democracy and the conducive environment Ghanaian journalists operate at the event.
Speaking on the theme “Keeping Power in Check: Media, Justice and the Rule of Law” on May 2, President Akufo-Addo remarked:
“I will say, again, that I much prefer the noisy, boisterous, sometimes scurrilous media of today to the monotonous, praise-singing, sycophantic one of yesteryear. The Ghanaian media has, in fact, enriched the nations’ governance by its curiosity, investigative skills, and persistence.”
Analyzing the assault by a vociferous woman well known in the president’s party on TV3’s NewDay Saturday, vis a vis the president’s speech, Mr. Kwame Jantuah recalled Nana Akufo-Addo ironically condemning the incarceration of a journalist in another country for merely taking pictures.
Holding the president to account based on the president’s stance on press freedom, Mr. Jantuah said the NPP’s apology on the assault “would have come from the highest executive of the NPP…” level.
President Akufo-Addo should have been the first to have indicated to Hajia Fati that her action was intolerable, he underscored.
“I would have thought that based on how President Akufo-Addo presented and highlighted Ghana with regards to the Press Freedom Day and the things he said, he would have been the first person to indicate to madam Fati that you are suspended or you would have seen him recommend to the chairman or the acting chairman of the NPP that she has to be suspended because of her action.”
Meanwhile, Hajia Fati has been granted a police enquiry bail after the Multimedia Group where the journalist who was assaulted works reported the issue to the police.

Ndc is b*llshit, did you hear any fight in the NPP elections?but look at what is happening in your elections, big men and footsoldiers taking off their shirts and fighting ,ndc Nkurasefuo and you call this a party. Your hate and enviness will never win you elections. Why are ndc so bitter about Ghanaians disliking them and voting them out? Ghanaians will continue to vote ndc to stay in opposition, whether you like it or not ndc is history. You lack kritical thinkers,Yaw eeeeii mo besu ara awu ! Free SHS by a kritical thinking president has been adopted by Sirra Leone new government, adwen papa nono, adwen kese3 a 3wi adwe, Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo Addo wo man Ghana da woase! Ghana need a kritical thinker like you to move our country beyound, Africa is watching you and learning from your wisdom, let the f000***00ls in Ghana keep on dreaming falsely and let them love noise making than thinking kritically. The f000**00ls in Ghana are drawing back our country else how on earth can ndc as a party ever win elections? Ghana must rise above the f000**ls who bring these thi*ves to power to destroy our country. NEVER AGAIN !
The man says he is CPP the rot that occured during NDC government he never talked anytime NPP comes to power then he finds his voice. Opportunist.
Myopiccccc thinking. Why should the president order the party? There are structures in the party with very responsible people in charge
Mr Jantuah, in terms of party matters, the party chairman and the executives deal with such matters concerning a party member. So why do you drag the president into this matter. That is the structures, rules and regulation of the NPP party. The president cannot bypass the executives committee and hand a punishment to a party member. Secondly I will advice journalist of this country to have a big badge hang around their neck as foreign journalist do. You cannot take your mobile phone as your camera and recorder and expect everybody to recognize you as a journalist. You should take some lessons from what happened to the journalists who were denied entry to Australia, their arguments were, nothing indicate that the people are journalists
nop, we must say as it is. hajia did not do well but have we asked ourselves what brought that. some journalist arent professional ok so lets look deep into some of the journalist and how by pen they feel they arre mightier than the sword. hajia cant do anything more than apology and if multi media feels its not enough, they should call for the arrest of her and we all head to court. have they paid their tax?, are they also angels?, let cool heads prevail, after all the woman is calming things. sorry the beaten journalist but multi media shouldnt stretch it ok
Mr Jantuah, the npp party has its structures that will deal with this incident so dont drag the country's president into this. Prez Akufo Addo is not an autocratic man. The prez may have been put there through the npp party's effort nevertheless he cannot under any circumstances order the suspension of any member not in govt.
Take your CPP mentality some where else Jantua. YOu always draw agenda for others why don't you think of reviving your party by keeping Kwasi Pratt at bay.
Do you really in your convictio think he can suspend or touch this woman??!! The woman is an EXACT replica of the President! THEYARE CLOTHED IN VIOLENCE FROM HEAD TO TOE!!
