The Akufo-Addo government, which is on “autopilot”, has paid only 30 per cent of the funds meant for the first-year implementation of the Free Senior High School programme, former President John Mahama has said.
At the main opposition National Democratic Congress’ first National Conference of Ex-MMDCEs, Mr Mahama said: “It’s like every minister in this government has his own kingdom, and it’s like the government is on autopilot; there doesn’t seem to be somebody in charge, and, so, any minister gets up and says anything”.
Providing what, in his view, is evidence to buttress his claim, Mr Mahama said the Akufo-Addo government has consistently been shifting the goalpost on virtually all its major pre-election promises.
“I mean look at the timelines for different things: National ID starts November, December, January, February, March, May.
“Or One District-One Factory is ready to start. Fifty-seven factories by end of 2017. Then somebody comes and says: ‘Oh, we’re getting the money from here but the rate was not acceptable, so, we are going to look for money from somewhere.
“Different timelines, everybody speaking a different language, it’s like the government is just, as I said, ‘Governance-As-You-Go’, ad hoc decisions, all the initiatives like free SHS, no policy guideline, and, as of now, the information we have is that for the first year, only 30 per cent of the money that should have been paid to the schools has been paid, 70 per cent has not been paid”, Mr Mahama claimed.
He said: “One Village-One Dam, [The government said]: ‘We don’t dig dams in a rainy season’, rainy season came and went, dry season came and rainy season has come again, so, are we going to wait till the next dry season before they start digging?
“One Million Dollara Per Constituency; and what I find strange is they don’t add the per year. It was not one million per constituency, it was one million dollars per constituency per year, that’s 275 million dollars a year. Now even the first one million dollars per constituency is nowhere to be found. Ashanti Regional Minister says it’s been disbursed, somebody, too, says it’s coming”, Mr Mahama ridiculed.

So this man is still talking?
USELESSLY ***barred word***.
hi, john mahama has made all ghana people poor, all ghana people must vote against mahama and his dying n,d,c party, nana addo must create jobs now, from gh pp
Oh Former President Mahama, if you have nothing meaningful to say better ***barred word*** for you are embarrassing yourself too much. Your desperation for power is bad, but note that your elevation to the highest office was based on "sympathy vote" after the demise of Uncle Atta and your time is gone with the wind. You never showed any leadership qualities during your reign and better invest your Millions of Dollars in productive social ventures that would benefit we the people in the North......Wise Up
I think auto-pilot is better than a snoring-pilot. At least the automatic will work and reach its destination. For a snoring-pilot, only God knows where the plane will land. At 60 years, Mahama thinks he is still in the university as a student where people say anything and go scot-free. Maybe, his brain is on auto-pilot. His perception of issues in this country is weird. I would have sympathised with him if he had not been president in this country before. Nut the rate he is exposing himself to ridicule, he will soon move about alone to shout 'wolf' where there is no 'wolf'.
Why does Mahama put himself up for ridicule? If he's a man of honor, he would be quiet by now.
Someone should advise this man to be discerning in his utterance. He seems too desperate to be president again which will not happen. It's one thing to be voted out of office but another to lose the little respect that is left. He's being consumed by the rejection and humiliating defeated meted to him at 2016 polls.
Even if Nana's gov't is Semi-Pilot we prefer that one than yours. Mahama is so desperate but we can promise him one thing "DEFEAT,DEFEAT,DEFEAT" come 2020. Now Mahama will never have his way through the BACK-DOOR TO POWER Again.
As at the time of leaving office in year 2016, Your government owed almost ALL state owned enterprises. Infact you even gave some blank cheque sovereign guarantees to go look for money because even with ALL the oil revenue you could not make statutory payments. No government worker in Ghana was paid more than 3 months salary arrears over you owed many more accumulated months arrears. You cancelled all allowances to teachers, nurses etc. Yet you come and make fun of a government who has managed to restore most of these allowances, opened the employment you closed, and trying to create am environment for private individuals to think and get into business through 1D1F initiative. MR EX. PRESIDENT MAHAMA, ARE YOU GHANAIAN AT ALL? Please go and rest in peace Ok. Dizzgraceful Mann.
This man is too desperate. can somebody help him. Mmobo !! he want eat president again, for where? Ghana here?
