Member of Parliament for Okaikoi Central, Hon. Patrick Yaw Boamah says he does not know what is motivating Ex-President John Dramani Mahama as he is in a haste coming back confidently to seek re-election from his party for the 2020 elections.

According to him, the Ex-President has gone through all the trends required to retain him where he is today and needs not come back for anything.

He said the margin at which he lost the 2016 elections to a person he prophesied can never be President is a clear indication for him to advice himself than thinking of coming back in 2020.

“Indeed, nobody in NDC can ever prevent the NPP from winning the 2020 elections. Our laid down procedures will make us attain every promise made to Ghanaians before, during and after the 2016 polls,” he said.

Speaking on UTV’s ‘Adekye Nsroma’ programme, Patrick Boamah said that Ghanaians have now become so alert on every matter especially concerning the economy which is why they always criticize the government when it is moving in the wrong direction.

“There is no more space for any propaganda talks from the NDC, therefore, there is no need for them to dream of coming back to power until they change their style of communication,” he added.

He said, what will even be the message from former President Mahama that makes him feel he is the right flagbearer for NDC.

The President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has stressed that by the end of his first term of office in 2020, his political opponents would have no campaign message going into the elections, as he would have fulfilled the promises he made to the Ghanaian people in run-up to the 2016 elections.

According to President Akufo-Addo, the same people who are saying his administration has done nothing over the last 16 months in office are the same persons who, prior to the 2016 elections, stated that free SHS was not possible, and described as lies the pledge to restore the nursing and teacher trainee allowances.

“One by one we are keeping our promises. Free SHS is now a reality. In September this year, the Free SHS policy will cover new entrants, in addition to those who will then be in SHS 2. By September 2019, it will cover all students in Senior High Schools across the country. Teacher and Nursing trainees are also receiving their allowances. We have also retired a large chunk of the NHIS debt left by my predecessor, and the NHIS is working,” he said.

The President continued, “To those who say they are still not seeing anything, they should wait and watch me. By the end of the four years, they will have nothing to say. They will acknowledge that we came to work for the development of Ghana.”
