Kweku Baako has challenged President Nana Akufo-Addo's directive to the Criminal Investigative Department (CID) to investigate alleged fraudulent behavior of the President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Kwesi Nyantakyi.
The seasoned journalist told host Kwami Sefa Kayi on Peace FM's 'Kokrokoo' that the President's haste in ordering the CID to look into the issue coupled with the press conference that was held on Tuesday by the Deputy Chief of Staff, Samuel Abu Jinapor and Information Minister Mustapha Hamid, announcing that the President had reported the GFA Boss to the Police, is a breach of confidentiality.
According to him, President Nana Akufo-Addo took his action without informing the key actors which is in violation of a confidential agreement between the parties.
He explained that the President and his Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia were given a preview of the investigative video where they watched portions concerning them.
“The President and the Vice President were given the opportunity to watch only the portion that concerns them. Even with that, it was just for few minutes because we were looking for the substantive issue. Where the President watched, it’s not more than 5 minutes; where the Vice President watched, not more than 3 minutes meanwhile this documentary is about two hours", he said, adding that the President and the Veep had the right to know because they were mentioned by Mr. Nyantakyi to be beneficiaries of a bribe.
However, Mr. Baako doesn't agree with the President referring the issue to the CID when Anas and his Tiger Eye PI team in collaboration with BBC had no clue; as the President was bound by a confidentiality agreement between him and the teams.
He stated he had earlier protested the government's decision to make the public announcement, saying “I have complained to those who called the press conference. I protested and I gave reasons for my protest and I'm told my protests have been made known to the President".
Though to him, "no fatal injury as such has been caused" by what the government has done; he doesn't like the idea of the announcement being done on the blind side of the vital stakeholders; that is Tiger Eye PI team and the BBC.
Mr. Baako also hinted that Kwesi Nyantakyi is only a fraction of what the general public is to expect on the exposé as "there are hundreds of people in there".
“You will see so many things, hundreds of people involved – football administrators, political elements, referees, linesmen (assistant referees) and so on", he stated.

DEAR MR. KWAKU BAAKO KEEP YOUR JUDGEMENT TO YOURSELF. IT IS IN YOUR INTEREST FOR THE PRESIDENCY TO HAVE REMAINED SILENCE ON THE MATTER. HOWEVER IT IS GOOD FOR THE INTEREST OF THE PRESIDENCY TO TAKE ACTION ON THE PART OF THE STORY CONCERNING THEM. YOU MUST UNDERSTAND THAT THE INTEREST OF THE PRESIDENCY IS PARAMOUNT TO THE INTEREST OF YOUR ANASS. THOUGH YOU WISH THE PRESIDENT COULD HAVE WAITED, THE HARM AGAINST YOUR ANAS, IF THERE WERE ANY, FOR THE PRESIDENT TO TAKE ACTION IS INCOMPARABLE TO THE HARM AGAINST THE PRESIDENCY IF NO ACTION HAD BEEN TAKEN
Why should Kweku Baako hint Akufo-Addo in the first place? It implies that Kweku was trying to put the president on his guard. Who knows, the president and Bawumia could have accepted the 5 million and 3 million and the entire country would have been on fire for impeachment. I bet, when the president got the hint, he said to himself Kweku has saved my as-s.
GHANA IS A JOKE COUNTRY. CAPTAIN MAN SONGO ASK THE PRESIDENT ABOUT THE WHITE PAPER GFA THE PRES NANA ADDO SAID HE HAS FORGOTTEN, PRES NANA ADDO KNEW THE FINANCIAL CONTRIBUTION OF NYANTAKYI TO SUPPORT HIS CAMPAIN. THAT IS WHY HE SAID THE PRES IS IN HIS POCKET. PRES ADDO IS IN A HASTE TO CALL CID TO INVESTIGATE BECAUSE HE KNEW THE VIDEO WILL BE SHOW ON 6TH JUNE. WHY DIDNT PRES CALL NYANTAKYI TO FLAT STAR HOUSE AND CLAIR HIM. EIII POLITICIAN CAN NEVER BE TRUSTED
