The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has justified its decision not to be present at the recently-held New Patriotic Party (NPP) National Delegates’ Conference in Koforidua, Eastern Region on Saturday, July 11, 2018 to show solidarity to the ruling party.
There were representatives of other opposition parties who shared goodwill messages at Saturday’s event, except for the NDC.
The governing NPP claims it sent three invitation letters to the NDC and the Minority in Parliament but they failed to show up.
According to John Boadu, newly-elected General Secretary of the NPP, the letters were sent very early to enable the NDC prepare adequately for the event. Also, he said the recipient of the letters signed to acknowledge receipt of the invites.
But according to the NDC leadership, they issued a statement directing all its members to suspend every political activity in memory of the late Vice President Kwesi Amissah-Arthur, who reportedly collapsed at the Air Force Gym in Accra a couple of weeks ago during a workout; hence their non-appearance at the NPP National Delegates Conference.
However, checks by Peacefmonline.com and the production team of Peace FM's Kokrokoo reveal that the NDC didn't actually boycott the NPP delegates’ conference as a result of that directive, since it has been established that the opposition party did conduct some constituency elections over the weekend, especially at Assin South, Ningo-Prampram and other constituencies.
Contributing to a panel discussion on Peace FM's Kokrokoo on Wednesday, the NDCs Director of Elections, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, said he could neither confirm nor deny knowledge of the party's constituency elections.
He however revealed the NDC didn't attend the NPP conference because "their invitation was delivered very [very] late. It came in very [very] late…They should also respect us…”
He further noted that despite the fact that the NPP disrespected the NDC; the opposition party was mourning their late leader and Vice President Amissah-Arthur.
Touching on the issue, seasoned journalist Kweku Baako who was also a panel member on Kokrokoo, condemned the NDC for flouting an inter-party dialogue and convention that has been built over time saying "the party is so big. You have so many executives even in this Region that putting in an appearance, even if it’s one person, two people”, he emphasized, "would have been better".

When will the NDC stop lying? First Fred Agbenyor said they did not attend the conference because of Charlotte Osie's dismissal and the concerns they have with the NIA not using the voters card for the Ghana card registration. Then Asiedu Nketsiah came to say that Fred Agbenyor as wrong, actually he lied. He said they did not attend the conference because of Amissah Attah's death. Now Ofosu Ampofo says they did not attend the conference because the invitation was received late. When will the lies stop. These are the reasons why the NDC will rot in opposition. In government they lie and it continues in opposition.
I DONT KNOW WHAT AT ALL IS WRONG WITH THE NDC. THEY ALWAYS GIVE ROOM FOR PEOPLE TO SAY ANYTHING TO THEN. THIS IS A SIMPLE MATTER YOU ARE MORNING PAA KWESI PERIOD AND EVERYBODY KNOWS IT. BUT PEOPLE LIKE FRED GOING TO BRING IN THE EC MATTER IS JUST SHOOTING OUR SELF IN THE FOOT. ANYWAY I NEVER LIKE THAT FRED MAN. HE GETS ME ANGRY EACH TIME HE COMES ON RADIO I DONT GET HIM AND HE ALWAYS SAYS THINGS WHICH DOES NOT HELP THE NDC. WHY DONT THEY SEND HIM TO HELP IN OTHER RADIO PLATFORMS IN THE VOLTA REGION THAT WILL HELP. I THINK THE LANGUAGE IS A PROBLEM IN ALL THE NDC MUST WAKE UP WITH THEIR POOR COMMINICATION ITS TERRIBLE.
Oh Ofosu Ampofo I heard you on Peace FM. Your answers to a simple question posed to you was incoherent.
Always telling lies about everything is the hallmark of NDC
Everybody in the NDC has a different reason for not attending the NPP conference. Why are they so disjointed in their explanations to why they didn't attend the conference? I weep for the NDC. The party is crumbling.
This is no excuse. If your party meant to attend, you have constituency executives in Koforidua which you could have told them to attend on behalf of the party.Your reasons are not convincing.
SO WHICH OF YOUR THREE REASONS SHOULD GHANAIANS ACCEPT? 1. Asiedu Nketia said that you could not accept the invitation to the conference you were mourning HE Amissah Arthur. 2. Fred Agbenyor siad you refused to attend because of NIA card and Charlotte Osei's dismissal. 3. Now Ofosu Ampofo says you couldn't attend because the invitation came late. LIARS WILL ALWAYS LIE UNTIL THEY CAN"T LIE ANY MORE.
my party npp and president nana akuffo addo are youserious about the mandate Ghanians gave you? Its a big shame youyo to see criminals like ndc former appointees to walk free, turn round and dare you to arrest them it you have balls to do so. when are you going to drag them to court to face the music? we see ***barred word*** like kwakye ofosu. omane boama, sammy gyamfi, kojo twum boafo, otukunor.ato forson, ablakwa, and many of them are heard on airwaves castigating the president and the nnp goyernment as well. I weep for my party npp.
