The National Organizer of the New Patriotic Party Sammi Awuku has condemned the attitude of some serial callers in the Ashanti Region.
Mr. Awuku explains that in as much as they have their grievances, their approach was bad and must be condemned.
Speaking on Okay FM’s 'Ade Akye Abia' program, he explained that the party has structures and that they could have channeled their grievances through those structures.
"I know the good works of the Ashanti Regional Minister, Simon Osei-Mensah and they could have reasoned with him on their issues," he said.
Mr. Awuku described that, though the party will support them for their various contributions to the development of the party, they should not make it look as if the party owes them.
"Every government has a responsility to honour their campaign promises and make the economy good and viable for businesses to thrive, and that is what the NPP government is committed to.
"We will not be distracted by some of these bottle necks within the party," he told host of the show, Kwame Nkrumah 'Tikese'.
Nonetheless, I have dispatched the National Youth Organizer, Henry Nana Boakye a.ka. Nana Bee to meet with them to have their issues addressed amicably.
In a rare protest against the leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), members of a group calling itself Volunteer Media Communicators for NPP set their mobile phones ablaze in Kumasi.
The move, according to the serial pro-NPP callers, was to get party leadership to reward them for their loyalty.
The communicators, drawn from various constituencies in the Ashanti Region, converged at the Abbey's Park clad in party colours and red armbands.
In all about 100 mobile phones were set on fire.
They hope the action will send home their dissatisfaction with the poor treatment they receive from party leadership in the Ashanti Region.
Executive Member for the group, Abel Anokye, said party leaders have refused to find them jobs after the party assumed affairs of state.
"We spend a lot of money on phone calls, just to defend the party. After we came to power we are yet to benefit from the party. They say we have been given MASLOC vehicles but it is not true. It was auctioned and we paid realistic prices for those vehicles without engines,” he said.
“Party leadership especially, the Vice Chair called us useless. The Regional Minister has refused to help us. We want the President to take them from this Region as we cannot stay with them,” he added.

DEAR SERIAL CALLER, PLEASE BE REMINDED THAT YOUR DUTY IS A SACRIFICIAL ONE.
Sammy Awuku is right! Party work needs a lot of sacrifice and volunteerism. These serial callers chose to work for NPP and nobody forced them to do so. To expect the party to pay them is wrong. Hundreds of thousands of people helped the party to come to power and it is not due to the singular effort of any group. There are so many opportunities out there for them to make a decent living. For example, why can't they team up and take advantage of the the government's flagship programme, Planting for food and jobs, to contribute their quota to the development of the nation? I believe the regional minister and the party hierarchy can support them to access the necessary inputs to help them. At the end of the day, it is the government's good works that will earn them a second term and not through the efforts of a vociferous few. They have no right to expect the regional minister to give them free money.
Is this Sammy awuku speaking? In good living brings a lot of forgetfulness. This guy prior to the 2016 elections was begging these serial callers to speak on the behalf of npp, today the same guy is living good, so he is condemning these same people who supported them. But he shouldn't forget that he is not dealing with Volta npp serials callers, for crying out loud, he is dealing with serial callers from npp stronghold, so if you start condemning them, you are doing so at you own risk.
what is the job of these serial callers at all? why do we have to encourage this whiles there is vast land these people can farm on? what is wrong with Ghanaians at all? it seems as if there are no laws in Ghana. People do whatever they want and get away with it.
Sit down and say ***barred word*** when you receive 1million in ashanti region you have lost the 2020 election. If ndc gains even 800000 in ashanti region, npp is done, so stop speaking ***barred word***.
are these people really NPP members as they so claim, so every party member has to be satisfied or compensated for serving the party, these people are NOT truly party faithfuls they are out to serve themselves, the Regional minister should not be intimidated by such rogues,if you do a good job in the region these works, good road, schools, hospitals, markets would defend your party not these unfaithful guys, politcal parties must stop encouraging laziness.
