President John Dramani Mahama is urging President Nana Akufo-Addo to dream big in order to solve the numerous challenges facing the country.
Mr Mahama says it takes a dreamer to be able to come out with concrete things and the President should never shy away from dreaming, adding that one can never make progress without dreaming.
Referencing Nana Akufo-Addo’s recent comment that Mr Mahama was "a dreamer" for calling for a review of the free SHS programme in order to address the poor implementation of the programme, former President Mahama said it takes a dreamer to create nations.
Addressing delegates of the National Democratic Congress in the Tamale South constituency, on Tuesday as part of his five-day tour of the Northern Region, Mr Mahama further said "maybe they don't dream that is why Ghanaians are not seeing any progress now”.
"I travelled around the world and saw decent airports but when you come to Kotoka [International] Airport Terminal Two, it was so disappointing. And so it takes a dreamer to dream about projects like Terminal Three and I dreamt it and I said Ghana can have an airport like that," Mr Mahama said.
The former President is therefore urging Nana Akufo-Addo to dream big for the progress of the country. Touching on the NDC’s achievements in government, Mr Mahama entreated members and supporters of the party to be proud of its record in government.
He particularly mentioned the NDC’s record investment in healthcare, education, expanding access to potable water and road infrastructure across the country.
Former President Mahama was concerned about the NPP government’s failure to complete development projects started during his administration, emphasising that it denies the people the intended benefits of those projects.
Mr Mahama wondered why a government that called itself competent should take almost two years to audit simple projects.
He was optimistic that the NDC will win the 2020 elections to enable it continue its work and reduce the high cost of living as well as provide jobs for the people.
Former President John Dramani Mahama has started his re-election campaign tour.
He is currently in the Northern Region after his four days tour to Central Region to commence his nationwide campaign to seek a re-election to lead his party, the National Democratic Congress
A total of 11 aspirants have so far declared their interest to lead the NDC.
Prof Joshua Alabi, Mr Ekwow Spio Garbrah and Mr Alban Bagbin are the ones leading the opposition arguing that Mr. Mahama does not deserve a second chance on the ticket of the NDC.
The NDC as part of the re-organisation for Election 2020 was waiting to elect new national officers before the presidential primary.

Your so called massive infrastructural projects plus artistic impression designs captured in your green book could not retain you in power, yet you keep touting such a rejected commodity. Each president built one infrastructure or the other. This is one common achievement of all presidents. However, the game changing president is the one who profferS social interventions aimed at bettering the lives of the citizenry. And that is what NDC lacks!! I am yet to know what social intervention policy they can come up with.
Here they go again, the claim credit for everything Mahama did, 26% and so what, is the source of funding from you? tell me how much you contributed to the terminal 3 project...you did nothing, the project was on auto pilot before you and your reckless government took over from the mahama admin...that a fact... your free shs awi ne se....like a dog that is being prepared to be hanged.

In any case, you dreamt big, and He continued your dream project. Why don't you and the ndc want to mention that the terminal three was just 23 percent complete when you left office. If Nana continues and finishes the project you started, you don't appreciate him, and if he doesn't continue them, you blame him... At least, let us be fair and honest. Let's stop the bugabuga politics.
