Out of 5,000 respondents interviewed in all ten regions and electoral areas across the country, a total of only 48.9% of Ghanaians said they will vote for the Akufo-Addo led government if elections were held today.
The 48.9 percent approval rating was as a result of economic hardships and ‘low performance’ of government with its’ appointees engaging in acts of corruption and ‘cover-ups’ according to respondents.
Some Ghanaians who participated in the polls organised by Political Science department of the University of Ghana, criticized the introduction of policies such as double track system that has ‘badly’ affected the Free SHS program and Anti-galamsey fight that has also rendered most of them jobless.
At a press conference to announce the poll results, head of political science department of the University of Ghana, Dr. Maame Gyekye-Jandoh said most Ghanaians seemed unhappy about Ghana’s economy thereby sampling the believe government is not on the right track.
“Voters indicated that the economy remains the single most important consideration in their quest to choose a president. Corruption, one-district one-factory, unemployment and road construction are unfulfilled expectations of voters” she stated.
She also indicated that per the polls conducted, there might be another contest between president Akuffo-Addoo and Former President Mahama in the forthcoming 2020 elections.
Methodology
The survey was conducted by the Political Science Department of the University of Ghana with funding from Konrad Adenauer Foundation (KAF) to access voter’s view on the government’s performance so far.
5,000 respondents were sampled in all ten regions, 590 electoral areas, 80 constituencies and 50 Municipal and Metropolitan district assemblies.

very encouraging results. the other parties share has not been given. this means the worse that can happen to the npp is a run-off. surely, ndc cant leapfrog from less than 45% to over 50%. again those who may reject the NPP may not necessarily go for NDC. There are several opposition parties. So for NPP to retain almost 50% with these inconvenience policies put them way ahead of NDC. If they work just a little harder 2020 shall be a done deal for them. personally, i wont vote for NPP again but certainly not for NDC as well. they are worst than npp in all considerations. i will waste my vote.
It was an interesting research though but still struggling to understand the methodology and the sampling or sampling. I recommend the research group to take into consideration the size of the constituency during the sampling. The figure will shoot a little bit higher for NPP than reported. Why were there so in a rush???
PEACE ONLINE, CHECK YOUR FACTS WELL, NPP DIDNT GET 48.9%, NPP GETS 49.6 PERCENT, SO PEACE CHECK YOUR FACTS, WELL, MAHAMA AND HIS NDC WILL NOT COME BACK TODAY OR TOMORROW, NEVER IN GHANA
NDC must be really worried by this. If after 2 years of taking unpopular decisions, Ghanaians still prefer the NPP to the NDC then the NDC is in real trouble. Besides everybody knows the last 18 months before an election, the party in power does a lot to win over wavering voters. NDC da yie!!
LET DO SOME CRITICAL THINKING IF THE NPP IN POWER SCORE 48.9% IN POLLS. IT IS TELLING YOU THAT GHANAIANS HAVE REJECT NPP. OPPOSITION IS TAKING THE REMAINING 51.1% AND IF THEY MERGE AS OPPOSITION PARTY AUTOMATICALLY NPP WILL FIND ITSELF IN OPPOSITION. NPP HARD 53.6% FROM OPPOSITION TO POWER AND TODAY THEY HAVE LOOSING GROUND TO 48.9% AM NOT NDC OR NPP BUT REMEMBER HARD TIMES AHEAD. FORWARD EVER BACKWARD NEVER
DON'T WORRY. YOUR TIME IS NEAR
HA HA HA FUNNY COMMENTS LET US ALL PRAY TO GOD
Which credible research group in their right mind conduct election survey two years before general election is held. 2020 election is almost two clear years to come, yet we have some gluttonous researchers conducting bogus surveys. Are they not lunatics?
Nana addo and his phony prophets and lecturers are doing everything to continue to force him on us. Bossman asare was the head of this group, today nana addo has appointed him an EC deputy commissioner. Interesting country. Under nana addo if you want appointment, all you need to do is conduct some phony project in his favor and you will be rewarded. I remember that unintelligent rector of GIMPA used to insult John mahama, today he has been given a job. He appointed the judges who axed Charlotte osei to the supreme court. I wouldn't be surprised if in the next few weeks, the head of this research group is rewarded with a job. Owusu bempah gave so many false prophecies about mahama, today he is on Ghana cancer board. The list goes on and on. All that nana addo is doing is giving jobs as if he is sharing toffees while the rest of us suffer.
This is taken in good faith and will be worked at to turn things around.... Thanks for the research , NPP shall surely win come 2020
