Former President John Dramani Mahama has expressed concern over the government’s failure
to continue with work on the Eastern Corridor road network, describing it as a “sad spectacle”.

The NDC administration awarded contract for the construction of the Hohoe Jasikan Dodipepeso road, with completion then scheduled for 2018, but the Akufo-Addo government in
2017 stopped work on the road.

Addressing delegates of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Kadjebi in the Akan
constituency as part of his weeklong flagbearership campaign tour of the Volta Region, Mr
Mahama said his government prioritised the Hoehoe-Jasikan-Dodipepeso road by including it in
the cocoa roads project.

He explained that even though cocoa is produced in the Hohoe area and some parts of the
Volta Region, those who didn’t know questioned the inclusion of that road in the cocoa roads
project.

Mr Mahama is therefore urging President Akufo-Addo to call the contractor back on site to
avert complete closure during the rainy season.

On the impending NDC flagbearership election, Mr Mahama urged delegates to vote for him by
voting number three on the ballot paper.

He said when elected in the 2020 presidential election, he will work hard to reduce the high
cost of living and provide jobs.
