Former President John Dramani Mahama has called on the Ghana Police Service to expedite investigations into the circumstances leading to the violence which was perpetrated against members and supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Thursday’s by-election in the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency in Accra.
Scores of NDC members and supporters, including the Member of Parliament for Ningo-Prampram, Hon. Sam George, were brutally attacked and injured, after several rounds of ammunition were fired by fully armed masked gunmen who rode in military grade vehicles marked “POLICE SWAT”.
Subsequently, Mr Mahama suspended his flagbearership campaign in the Volta Region and returned to Accra to visit those who were injured and on admission in hospital.
Addressing NDC delegates Dzode in the Ketu North constituency, after resuming his campaign in the Volta Region on Friday, Mr Mahama, described the attack as an affront on Ghana’s constitution.
He said the disruption of Thursday’s by-election is a product of the NPP’s “all die be die”.
Mr Mahama warned that the NDC would resist any attempt by the government to subvert Ghana’s constitution, as it happened in the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency by-election.

This mahama guy is very irresponsible...................
Wake up Ghanaians. I am very disappointed in many commenting on the violence at January 31 By-Election. The Security forces saved the elections and the nation from a very unfortunate embarrassment situation that the gang in the the NDC candidate house would have cause. What Ghanaian need to do investigate is what the gangs in the in NDC candidates were doing. Who brought such a big number of vigilantes there and what was their agenda. NDC claim that they were to monitor the election. If they were to monitor the election they would have received accreditation and be dispatched to the polling stations at or before 7.00 am. The vigilantes had been kept in the house to be dispatched all at the same time to snatch ballot boxes and beaten any body who would have resist them. If they had succeeded to do that who would have been blamed? The police and the security forces would have been blamed for incompetent. The President and NPP government would have been blamed to have failed to execute and protect just a constituency election. if this morning everybody is going about their duties freely and discussing about the election it is all because the security forces acted on their intelligence and nip the diabolic agenda in the bud. It is shamefull and irresponsible for Mahama to have made such a statement. He will never again be entrusted with power.
Now you de talk sense ...
Massa stop waiting your time on the koti , the koti is now compromised . You have seen this ,use it to strategize your next action in the next election. As for the Ghana koti ,they are toothless bull dog ,they don't even know what is going on or have decided not to act because of political victimization.
Oh, I thought you said in Volter Region that NDC is from WICKED REVOLUTION and you can unleash violence on Gahanains better that everyone. You just confirmed what some us know and most of the youth have to know about (P)NDC! NEVER, again should we allow NDC to come close to power!
Greedy man
