Former President John Dramani Mahama’s ‘boot for boot” campaign continues to receive endorsement from both the top echelons and the rank and file of the National Democratic Congress, with what appears t be a clear indication that the party has adopted it as its 2020 campaign theme.
The latest to endorse the slogan is the MP for Odododiodoo, Nii Lante Vanderpuye, and NDC faithful in that part of Accra.
Odododiodoo is one of the notorious hot spots when it comes to Ghanaian elections.
The area is expected to witness what NDC members in the area call “Boot 4 Boot Walk for Victory” on Sunday. The walk will start and end at the Mantse Agbonaa Park, where Mr. Mahama will address the NDC faithful as the guest of honour.
Addressing NDC supporters in Adaklu on a campaign tour of the Volta Region, Mr. Mahama said no political part in Ghana could match the NDC when it comes to “unleashing revolutionary violence” on other people.
“…the NDC had revolutionary roots and that when it comes to unleashing violence, nobody can beat us in unleashing violence,” he said.
The ladies approve
The impending Odododiodoo “Boot 4 Boot Walk for Victory” may not come as a surprise to many people.
Key members of the women’s wing of the party had endorsed Mr. Mahama’s invitation to violence during last week’s “Aagbe wo” demonstration, organized by the NDC and other opposition parties.
NDC national women’s organizer Hannah Bissiw and former Gender Minister Nana Oye Lithur were captured among other NDC women, holding placards and displaying their readiness to use their brawn to pursue the “boot for boot” action espoused by former President Mahama.
The chair endorses
Former NDC Central Regional chairman Bernard Allotey Jacobs has also described the comment by the former President as a “motivational message”.
“The Educated Fisherman”, as he is affectionately called, said the “boot for boot” comment by Mr. Mahama deserves to be supported by all because it is meant to energize the grass roots of the NDC.
“The boot for boot comment is a motivational message …we will support him, 24/7 …” he told Adom TV last week.
This followed condemnation of the former President’s comments by a cross section of Ghanaians, including the Peace Council.
More demos
Meanwhile, the Daily Statesman can confirm from that organizers of last week’s “Aagbe Wo” demonstration, largely sponsored by Mr. Mahama and the NDC, are planning to hold a series of such protests in coming weeks.
A message in our possession circulated to members of the Inter-Party Coalition for National Sovereignty by a person believed to be one of the main organizers congratulated them for what they described a “successful demo”.
The message however said that the name of the group will have to be changed from Inter-Party Coalition of National Sovereignty to Coalition for National Sovereignty, in order to attract more people from diverse backgrounds.
“We continue to receive calls from the length and breadth of the country, from people who will like to join this noble course [sic] and some consultation where [sic] made and in order for every Ghanaian to join we have decided to change the name from Inter Party Coalition for National Sovereignty to COALITION FOR NATIONAL SOVEREIGNTY,” the intercepted message reads.
It however says that the group’s logo and membership will remain the same.
“We want to include every Ghanaian whether one has a political party or not as well as civil society organizations.
“Let us stay focus [sic] as we fight to protect and defend the sovereignty of Ghana. There are going to be series of activities which will be announced to this noble house later,” he message says.

NDC you are fuuuuling too much.So you have no alternative policies to tell GHANAIANS but rather you are calling for WAR then so be IT. For your information the security system is ready for you and they will let you know your party came to MEET the various cities and tributes in this country. The BOOT must meet FIRE!
TALK OF ALTERNATIVE POLICIES YOU WILL ALSO BRING. YOUR DEMONSTRATIONS WILL NOT BRING YOU CHANGE. NDC SHOULD KNOW BETTER
OUR NPP THEME: IS PEACE 4 PEACE NOT WAR! PEACE 4 DEVELOPMENT (NPP) ,WAR 4 DESTRUCTION (NDC)
they should let their family members lead that boot for boot campaign. if u are not a family member of these politicians and u go died for this politicians we are going to flog your corpse and ask God to send you straight to hell without any judgement.
It is sad that NDC still does not have any message for Ghanaians. 1. Ehedzor bordor 2. Edey bee k3k3 3. John Mahama de bee 4. Borborliborbor and now 5. Boot for Boot All these do not show any potential policy direction and we have grown wiser. NDC should develop a proper message so that we can hold them for it but we can't hold them for Boot for Boot. I think the Boot for boot is to loot without accountability.
