Bryan Acheampong, Minister of State in charge of National Security, has debunked claims that the gunshot wounds inflicted on some members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) were from the SWAT team.
According to him, per his briefing, the victims were injured from gunshot wounds at the residence of the NDC parliamentary candidate and not from the 60 men who were deployed to the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election.
The by-election was marred with chaos after masked men said to be National Security operatives stormed the Bawaleshie polling center because of ‘intelligence’ they received.
Per Bryan’s claims, “we had intelligence that some materials were being sent to a warehouse and it included weapons; which they (SWAT team) were concerned about . . . but they didn’t enter the property. They fired the warning shots at the gate and arrested nine people but they did not complete their mission, they should have searched the property extensively . . . ”
Bryan who was speaking at his appearance at the Emile Short Commission further stated: “they (SWAT team) told me that in the arrest of the nine people, six were injured and I asked if it was from gunshot wounds and they said NO; they were resisting arrest and they applied minimal force in their language and sustained injuries; they sent them to the police station and they were given medical forms."
"The gunshots did not come from the SWAT team; they denied it . . . the gunshot wounds came from inside the house (of the NDC candidate) and they suspect that because the people (in that house) were not trained, something might have gone wrong for the guns to go off . . . but they (SWAT team) did not enter the house.”

Know Wonder the NDC are running away from the Commission. They know very will they are going to be EXPOSED by the Commission of Inquiry.
I can now see the reason why the NDC has refused to show up to the commission, AFTER SENDING THEIR NDC HAWKS AND AZOKA BOYS TO CAUSE MAYHEM THE POOR PEOPLE OF AYAWASO WEST, THE NDC HOOLIGANS ***barred word*** SHOT THEMSELVES AND THEN TURN AROUND TO BLAME THE POLICE AND THE NATIONAL SECURITY WHO WANT TO PROTECT US.
This guy is already heading toward hell to spend eternity with the devil
I now understand why the ndc should not cooperate, because all the ministers who have shown up have lied through their teeth.
He should go and tell these stories to the marines. What prevented them from completing the mission? Are they saying they herd a gun shot coming from the house and they did not bother to enter as trained men? God save us
Interior minister said the trucks were not from Ghana police. IGP and his team denied knowledge of the masked hoodlums. Sammy Gyamfi, who initially took responsibility is now distancing himself from the perpetrators. Now, could it be that those were some foreign mercenaries? How come our intelligence folks had no information on them, granted they were? Are we really safe in Ghana, if those who are paid to protect us don't know who the loonies were? Come on, let's get real.
Mr.Editor can you be very professional and precise in your reportage? Did Bryn use the word "my" in his statement before the committee? Peacefmonline is losing it's professional standard. Sad!! I feel sorry for the future of journalism in Ghana.
the concert is too much
The truth is now coming out. He who alledges must prove. Now ballistic experts will be needed to carry out an assessment to prove what is being said. The truth will surely come out that is the need for a Commission.
