Member of Parliament for Ningo Prampram Constituency Sam Nartey George has confirmed he will be appearing before the Emile Short Commission as a witness.
The law maker will make his appearance on Monday, February 25, 3news.com has gathered, despite a decision by his party not to appear before the Commission.
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) had questioned the composition of the Commission, claiming all the members are affiliated with the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in one way or the other.
They claimed the Chairman, Justice Emile Short, a former Commissioner of the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ), member Henrietta Mensa Bonsu, a renowned professor of law, and the other member, Patrick Kwarteng Acheampong, a former Inspector General of Police, are masked over faces of the NPP.
A statement signed by the opposition party’s General Secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, stressed: “We remain skeptical about the seriousness with which justice will be pursued under the remit of an Emile Short Commission”.
The violence during the Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency on Thursday, January 31 involved injuries to some civilians.
Lawmaker Sam George was assaulted by some National Security operatives, an action that has been widely condemned.
What is worse, the operatives were using vehicles belonging to the SWAT Unit of the Ghana Police Service.
The NDC MP says he will go to the Commission’s public sitting to give his testimony as an individual

TONGA IS DAMN RIGHT. NDC IS NOT A HUMAN BEING, IT IS THE HUMAN BEINGS WHO ARE MEMBERS OF THE NDC SO IF THE NDC IS SAYING WE ARE NOT GOING THERE AS NDC BUT OUR MEMBERS CAN ATTEND, WHAT IS THE MEANING OF THAT. ? IT IS ONLY ***barred word*** BI NTI LOGIC.
He can't fail to go before the Commission , he will be supoena or hall before it.That stuuuupid for nothing MP. He should go and show them where they kill someone in his own house.
@Tonga please don't get confused and don't try to confuse others here. Aunty Baby is right,NDC said individuals are free to go but he party as an entity isn't ready to work with the commission since they don't trust the commissioners. Please lets be fair in our comments.
@ Aunty Baby, please you are rather twisting the fact. The initial announcement by the NDC General Secretary supported by his Assistant was that NDC will not support the work of the Commission. It was later that it was said that the NDC as a party will not but individuals are free to cooperate with the Commission. The initial reaction was a fiat NDC which includes members. I hope you have the picture clear now?
Sam George has not snubbed the NDC. In fact, his presence at the commission will do NDC a lot of good, especially at this stage that the testimony of the NDC parliamentary candidate has revealed that chairman Ofosu Ampofo's wild claims and allegations leading to his decision and announcement of withdrawing from the by-elections was all fabricated and blatant lies! Sam George is just going to do what he knows how to do best.....Propaganda.....to save face for chairman Ofosu Ampofo and his beloved NDC party with his witty sarcasm, half baked truths and fantastic lies. I wish him luck in his bid to "rescue" his disgraced national chairman and the NDC Party before the commission. God be with him!!!
Listen yourself and do the right thing.
NDC IS INCONSISTENT. THEY DID NOT TRUST THE POLICE SO THEY BROUGHT THEIR OWN VIGILANTES. SUSPICIONS OF THE VIGILANTES ON MOTORBIKES AT AYAWASO GENERATED VIOLENCE. VIGILANTES AT KUMASI WHO PROVIDE SECURITY TO NDC BEGIN TO SHOOT AND KILL THEMSELVES SO NOW THEY TRUST THE POLICE. THEY JUST MOVE THE POST TO SUIT THEIR GOAL.
Peace FM please report all facts do not leave what you do not want to report. Asiedu Nketiah said the party will not attend the commission as an organisation but will not stop any individual party member from attending. PLEASE DO NOT TWIST FACTS.
