There has been a shake-up in the leadership of some of the Select Committees of Ghana’s parliament.
The Chairman of the Subsidiary Legislation Committee, Mr Mahama Ayariga and the Ranking Member of the Health Committee, Mr Joseph Yieleh Chireh, have lost their leadership positions as a result of the shake-up.
According to Class FM’s parliamentary correspondent, Ekow Annan the changes were made to ensure the Minority discharges its oversight responsibilities well.
With Bawku Central MP Mahama Ayariga already serving in the ECOWAS Parliament, his absence from the country negatively impacts his output, thereby necessitating his replacement with a former Deputy Attorney General, Dr Dominic Ayine, a source told Ekow Annan.
Also Wa West MP, Joseph Yieleh Chireh, who is a member of the Pan-African Parliament, has been replaced with Juaboso MP, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh as the Ranking Member of the Health Committee.
From the majority side, Manhyia North MP, Collins Owusu Amankwah replaces Yaw Frimpong Addo as the Chairman of the Government Assurances Committee.
