NPP National Youth Organizer, Henry Nana Boakye, popularly known as Nana B has described as weak the basis on which the Minority is asking for a new budget following the depreciation of the cedi.
The Minority at a stakeholder's meeting led by, Cassiel Ato Forson asked the government to at least come before Parliament with a statement outlining critical policy changes that will enhance the prospects of the economy.
“The rapid decline in the value of the cedi has thrown the economy in disarray and the projections surrounding it as contained in 2019 budget. This has, therefore, undermined the confidence in the economy which is also sending wrong signals to the investor community. This calls for urgent steps to be taken by government to restore the economy.”
“The starting point is that we should be considering a new budget which considers all the distortions and serious problems occasioned by the fall of the value of the cedi. At the minimum we expect a statement to Parliament assuring the nation on the steps taken by government to address the instability of the economy. The budget as presented by the Minister of Finance can no longer be relied upon. It’s credibility and stability have completely been undermined by the cedi”
Speaking to this during a panel discussion Friday on Peace FM morning show 'Kokrokoo', Nana B said even if there are shortfalls in the budget, 'that is why we have a supplementary budget'.
"I am surprised that a whole minority who should know better will hold a press conference saying because the cedi has depreciated we should throw away the budget…"

Village champion!
These politicians paa!!!! We were in this world when people like Nana B postulated many remedies and lambasted the NDC. Beautiful. You are now in power and you are still criticising NDC? We criticised NDC when they went wrong so you have to grow a thick skin and solve the problems. I have never believed the growth rates, policy rates inflationary rates because the agencies providing them are compromised. Indeed Dr Bawumia was of that view that is why said the exchange rate will give you away. His mistrust for those agencies was at the background of his decision to release such a statement. Truly the exchange rate has given you away. If you were truly sorting out the fundamentals of the economy, you would have been touting that ceaselessly but because you have no clue of how to solve it you are cleverly shying away from it. Now those who provide unflinching support for politicians will learn hard lessons. It is your fault that all these hardships are visited on us because the politicians know that we are so politically tribal that no matter what they do wrong people like you will still hold them high. Let's stop being hero worshippers and be a little bit impartial for a greater good. Nana B is saying all those things because he knows very well that your support is assured so he can say anything and it will be praised.
jimifuo, if it is not NDC, it is NPP. Insulting each other every day
