The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) is asking the Electoral Commission (EC) to produce the outcome of the investigation conducted into the electoral malpractices that occurred during the referenda on the creation of the six new regions.
If you may recall, the EC said it had commenced investigations into reports of alleged malpractices where some electoral officials were seen in some videos that went viral allegedly engaging in electoral fraud during the referenda.
Brazen Violation Of Electoral Laws Alarming
Prior to that, the opposition party had expressed alarm at what it described as the brazen violation of the country's electoral laws that characterised the process.
According to the NDC, the 'abysmal' nature of the polls cast a deep shadow over the level of trust that should be placed in the Jean Mensah led Electoral Commission.
In one of these videos, a man was seen seated among colleagues all believed to be accredited officials of the Commission thump printing ballot papers.
No One Will Be Shielded - EC
Days after the video went viral in December last year, the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, Jean Mensa, indicated her outfit's resolve not to shield any of its staff found culpable in the alleged malpractices.
“The Electoral Commission will not shield any staff, permanent or temporary who is found to have violated the law,” the Commission said in a statement, adding that it has contacted its regional officers and the security agencies to verify the authenticity or otherwise of the videos.
But that has been almost three months now. And the NDC wants to know the outcome of the EC's investigation.
In a statement signed by the General Secretary of the NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, the opposition party said "owing to the enormous importance attached to the need for a free, fair, transparent and credible election, and in the spirit of accountability, we write to request for information on the status of the investigations into the electoral malpractices that characterized the referenda, and the outcomes and/or recommendations that were made from the investigations".
It further said: "we hold the view that the impact of what transpired at the December referenda on a successful conduct of 2020 elections cannot be underestimated. Hence, the pressing need to find the causes, the culprits and the concrete actions by the commission aimed at finding credible lasting solution to the identified challenge to prevent their reoccurrence in future elections"

Is it any wonder that of all the regions only Volta had videos of infractions. NDC is capable of doing anything just to make the country ungovernable. It is possible that they photo shopped that scene just as they photo shopped Nana Addo fondling a woman at GBC. Nation wreckers we know you already.
Why do you allow politics to blind you
YOU ARE BECOMING A NUISANCE. STOP THIS EVIL BEHAVIOR.DEVILS.
When did the EC become and investigation agency? NDC why? Your behavior in opposition is getting worse.
