Minority Members of Parliament (MP) during sitting on Monday refused to comment on a statement by the Ayawaso West Wuogon MP, Hon. Lydia Seyram Alhassan.
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) MP, Lydia Seyram Alhassan had delivered her maiden statement on the floor since she was sworn-in on February 5, 2019.
According to a report filed by Peace FM's Parliamentary correspondent, Emmanuel Akorli, the Minority Chief Whip Muntaka Mohammed turned down the Speaker’s invitation for their side to comment on Hon. Lydia Alhassan's statement
on World Health Day which was marked yestrerday, 7th April 2019.
Hon. Muntaka Mubarak Mohammed asked the Speaker of Parliament to let the NPP side comment on their member's statement as they were not ready to make any comment.
If you may recall the 'bloody widow' saga; the minority had decided not to recognise the Ayawaso West Wuogon MP because they don't recognize her as the valid winner of the by-election which injured about 16 of its members.
Member of Parliament for Ayawaso West Wuogon, Hon Lydia Seyram Alhassan, has said the pursuit by the Ministry of Health of Universal Health Care (UHC) for all Ghanaians by 2020 is workable and achievable under the government of President Akufo-Addo.
Hon Lydia Seyram Alhassan made the observation today in her maiden statement in Parliament on World Health Day which was commemorated on 7th April.
She said UHC is not only about the "health of citizens but also the strength of the country anchored in the quality of their thinking".
She said the "recent clearance by government for the employment of 53,681 health workers" has "contributed greatly to addressing the challenge of staffing" in the health sector.
However, Members of the Minority caucus in Parliament did not contribute to the maiden statement by Hon Lydia Alhassan who won the Ayswaso West Wuogon by-election to replace late Hon Emmanuel Agyarko.
The NDC finally pulled out from that election citing intimidation and harassment of its members.

I feel sorry for the few competent and nice MPs in NDC who are trading their credibility for the sake of dirty politics. These MPs are being run by the NDC executives and not themselves. Before they realise they are letting down their constituencies; it will be too late.
I consider the above comments as childish and ***barred word***. We like insults too much, then we end up saying GHANA is a religious nation.Let COMMON SENSE GUIDE US.
She killed her husband to occupy his seat in parliament. She is wicked and deserves what she is facing
What else do you expect from the NDC? No wonder! They bring Azorka boys from Tamale to disrupt elections in Accra and turn round to find a scapegoat in no mean a person than the winner of the polls. What a disgrace, a word they have sworn never to recognise and so means nothing to them!
I hope the majority NPP will allow Hon. Alhassan to start the debate on sensitive topics/bills in parliament. The NDC will refuse to talk and The NPP will just sail through without tears and long talk. Then you can pass the bills as quickly as possible.
Who cares whether they will recognise her or not she is in parliament. ***barred word*** ***barred word***

Aa momma y3nka na these NDC MPs are ***barred word***. Why are they so petty and immature? So it means every NDC MP is at loggerheads with Mad Lamptey? Oh God. ***barred word*** is a sickness and these NDC MPs need to get a cure for it. So there is not a single wise person among these MPs? Ghana is in trouble with these people as our leaders.Gyimi nie...
