James Kwabena Bomfeh Jnr., popularly known as ‘Kabila’, has suggested that the nation needs no more laws to counteract acts of vigilantism.
He was reacting to the Vigilante Bill that was sent to Parliament by the Attorney General, Gloria Akuffo on Thursday.
The Bill when passed into an Act will disband activities of vigilantism and prohibit the formation of such groups in Ghana.
This was in compliance with a directive given by President Akufo-Addo.
Kabila who was contributing to a panel discussion on Peace FM's morning show ‘Kokrokoo’ said the nation’s problem is not the lack of laws but the will to implement.
“We have enough laws already; our problem is non-adherence, non-commitment, insincerity, deception; these are the problems, we should face reality and accept our current state and change," he urged.

DEAR KWABENA BONFEH, I AGREE WITH YOU ABOUT YOUR CRITICISM ON THE FAILURE OF NATIONAL ID NOT YET FULLY IMPLEMENTED TO COVER ALL ACROSS THE NATION. I DONT UNDERSTAND WHY DR. ATAFUAH IS SILENT THIS TIME. WHY DO WE NEED ANOTHER REGISTRATION FOR VOTING WITHOUT PRODUCING THE REGISTER FROM NATIONAL DATA OF NATIONAL IDENTIFICATION AUTHORITY. IS IT NOT A WASTE OF RESOURCE AND LACK OF COORDINATION BY GOVERNMENT. AS MUCH AS I AGREE WITH YOU KWABENA ON ID, I AT THE SAME TIME DISAGREE WITH YOU ON THE LAW AGAINST VIGILANTISM. THE LAW IS DIRECTLY AND SPECIFICALLY PROSCRIBE VIGILANTISM AND ITS RELATED ASSOCIATIONS. IT GIVES A CLEAR MESSAGE TO ALL TO DISOWN VIOLENT GROUPS. WE HAD NOT STOPPED POLITICAL VIOLENCE WITH THE EXISTING LAWS AND WE CANNOT SUCCEED TO STOP IT WITHOUT DOING THINGS DIFFERENTLY.
Kabila is dead right. It is a waste of time to pass laws against vigilantism, we have those laws already.
