A member of the Council of Elders of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr Ato Ahwoi, has sounded a note of caution to the Nana Addo-led New Patriotic Party (NPP) government warning the ruling party of severe repercussions if it tries to suppress the will of Ghanaians, especially members of the opposition party.
According to him, the NDC will resist any attempt by the NPP government to subject them to any form of intimidation and injustice with the active connivance of state agencies.
He was commenting on the invitation by the Criminal Investigations Department [CID] of the Police Service to the NDC's National Chairman, Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo, to appear before the state security department on Thursday, May 9, 2019 to assist with investigations.
Speaking in an interview on Peace FM News@6pm on Thursday, the NDC stalwart was bewildered by the action of the Police Service to invite someone to assist in investigations when that same person is before court on "similar trumped up" charges.
"If you think you have fresh charges against him, go to court and amend the charges," a furious Ato Ahwoi stated.
Recounting how he was put before court 48 times in 2001, despite only two witnesses testifying against him, the usually calm Ato Ahwoi vowed in his personal capacity and that of the NDC, not to allow the same thing repeat itself.
"We know why the NPP is behaving like this and we will not allow them to oppress us . . . If he ( Prez Akufo-Addo) believes this country is governed by rule of law but he wants to violate or contravene the laws of the land, we will reply him in equal measure.
"The NPP is behaving like oppressors and by the dictates of the country's national anthem, we will continue to resist them until they stop. If they (NPP) do not want peace, we will also not give them Peace," he warned.

I have detected that NDC Party is not Educative party. Even the old and matured people in the party are also aimless and unthinkable absence minded people. Look at what old man Ato Ahwoi is saying. Ato Ahwoi, During Rawlings's time, we know what you Ahwio did to some people. Do the NDC people think that they are above the law? They should go to court and defend their member. The law must go on.
Bias approach of rule of law is not law of law.. At lease we see how democracy works in the Europe and America.. u do deliberately opress anyone who speak against you.. is not done in EUROPE,not done in America or Australia...Even in the SouTH-East Asia and the ARAB World is not done.... Why should Ghanaians continue to live in fear even in our present democratic dispensation....I cant just understand Ghana and the way we think as people... NDCs will talk for NDC even when it is wrong.. Likewise NPP... But I am just afriad of the current trend in Ghana now.. Journlist are being destroyed ... social groups cant express their views even if things are wrong... what we can do now is to sing HALLELUJAH to anything ...even if is going wrong..
Please sir,did you ask Ofosu Ampofo to open his mouth wild and bring out all he said? As Ghanaian,we should be bold and have responsibility to condemn certain dangerous pronouncements from our own people. We should not support certain behaviors from elders or politicians that will jeopardize the peace in Ghana. We should not encourage certain pronouncements from certain elements like Sammy Gyamfi who has no respect for anybody including the president because of politics. Politics has allowed people like Sammy Gyamfi to use abusive language to a man who is old enough to be his father or uncle. It is really sad and worrying but elders like you have no courage to condemn such behaviors. I will advice Ofosu Ampofo to honor the police invitation because no one is above the law of this country. May Allah continue to protect us and guide us against things that will bring chaos in Ghana. May Allah continue to guide and protect the president, his vice and his government to continue with the good work they are doing for mother Ghana. Ameen.
Absolutely and utterly disappointed by Ahwoi. For someone well-educated, well travelled and bursting with grey hairs, I expected much better from him. How can such a man display crass d1srespect of our institutions? Grey haired man, when someone gets invited by the CID, he goes there to assist with investigations until he is charged, presented to Court, and he has opportunity to defend himself. What has the CID done wrong if new evidence points to the d1scred1ted hypocri+ical church elder and chairman of a U$£L£SS Opposition PARTY? Instead of being guided by wisdom per your grey hair, you've st0oped so low to the levels of sammy gyamfi and kwaku boahen to churn out $h==1+ like this. Blame to Jerry Rawllings for getting the likes of Mr ahwoi into politics with little to contribute to Ghana than enrich himself and his family. LEAVE THE GHANA Police TO DO THEIR WORK. YOU'VE LOST MY RESPECT BIG TIME.
They all sound the same way both young and old. They still think they are in the revolution days. May somebody remind them we are now using the rule of law and not patapaa.
