Renowned journalist and host of Peace FM morning show 'Kokrokoo', Kwami Sefa Kayi has bemoaned the ruling government's inability to construct the Lekma Hospital road; an issue he has been talking about for years.
According to him, "when it comes to the Lekma Hospital road, government has failed us."
LEKMA Hospital Road
It is an undeniable fact that most roads in the country are in such a deplorable state that they have turned into death traps, ready to snap motorists who dare refuse to drive at a snail’s pace in conformity with the decayed road networks.
Just like many others, driving through the bush road through Tabebiano, Camp-two to the Lekma Hospital is really a nightmare. Unfortunately, it is the only alternative route to residential areas around the Manet Estate, off the Spintex road.
Residents and commuters alike have had cause to complain about the bush road- Tebebiano-Camp Two- Lekma Hospital route, decrying the potholes which keep on expanding in size and depth each second of the day.
Since the potholes seem to have been specially arranged and knitted together, it is highly impossible to avoid plunging into any of them, they bemoan. Persistent rainfalls in Accra recently have also added to the nightmare, especially, when the showers start early in the mornings.
In such periods, many of the roads suddenly turn into muddy streams, becoming slippery and treacherous, such that, one needs to apply all the requisite driving skills to drive through unscathed.
Indeed, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Ledzokuku, Dr Okoe Boye, is on record to have stated a couple of months ago that the LEKMA Hospital is teeming with patients for various diseases caused by the bumpy nature of the road. According to him, some residents have had miscarriage and others have contracted asthma due to the constant inhaling of the dust on the bumpy road.
It therefore defies logic why in the face of all these concerns, that particular road and other road networks have been left unattended to by government.
Watch Sefa Kayi's take below:
2018....Work To Begin In 6 Days
In June last year, the Minister of Roads and Highways, Kwasi Amoako-Atta, issued a strong warning to all encroachers standing in the way of the 7.5-kilometre dual carriage road stretching from Teshie-Lascala through the main Spintex Road Junction to the Institute of Professional Studies (IPS).
According to him, works on the road was to begin in six days.
The Minister, who was speaking in an interview during a days working visit with a team of engineers and technocrats from the Urban Roads Department to inspect the road, revealed that the NPP government has made some payment of about GH¢16 million out of the total GH¢35 million outstanding debts owed the contractor by the previous government.
This GH¢62 million contract, he said was signed between government and Malin Investment Company Limited, the construction firm contracted for the project, on 5th July, 2015, and the contractor indicated his seriousness by starting work on 7th July, 2015. The project was expected to have been completed within 24 months from the day of start.
Because the previous government refused to effect payment of monies to aid the contractor to continue his work, the project was stalled in 2016. And for close to two years now, nothing has since been done on the road and it’s affecting the activities of the people in the area.

Let us give thanks to A plus who is bold enough to tell Ghanaians which party sefa kayi belongs to whic is npp becuase of what A plus said in the video sefa cant not protect his pay masters any more, 3 year since npp took power only today you have seen that they have failed Ghanaians we are monitring you if NDC back to power 2020 you will see pepper mark it
Ndc was in power for 8 years and how can you compare 8 years with two and a half years?I tell you whatever ndc will never come back to power! and what did this ndc say Nana B and the mp are wicked then ndc are real evil and satanic !what did the ndc do apart from your Dubai in Ghana Nkrumah circle which claimed more than 200 lives in a day in a rain storm and fire? come on, give us a break! tell us or show us by name what ndc did for the 8 years? giving contracts during election time with no money is achievement? Look at how Papa Kuffuor left Ghana for the ndc and Atta Mills/John mahama even Nsawam/Kumasi road had money left to be completed, Dr Duffuor ndc finance minister acknowledged the good work of the NPP and money left in the consolidated fund which promoted the ndc to Make judgement debt their priority calling people to bring judgement debts for payment hence Woyome case but what did the ndc leave in 2017 for their so called uncompleted projects to be completed? Nothing! and such people have no shame to come hear to talk! irritants !
The MP in the studio and nana B are very wicked. Look at what they are trying to do, working so hard to gag Kwame. Three years in power, everything is still NDC, so what at all did NPP come to do. They had complained about NDC for three years, are they not tired for once. They are left to say nana addo is bald because NDC was incompetent. The jokes must stop.
For once, I doff my hat for sefa kayi. This is what journalism is all about about, exposing the failures and wrongs of governments, but not defending them blindly. Of course, NDC didn't do a lot of things right, but for a government which promised heaven and claimed they are the most competent government in the history of Ghana to display so much ineptitude in the job they do is much worrying. Ghana is not for only NDC members neither is it for only NPP members, it's for all of us. We must all speak our minds when things are not going well, especially when the president himself has said we should not be spectators but citizens. Kwame has joined the likes of Professor Karikari, Kweku Azaar, Oko Boye who have been quite objective though they lean towards the NPP. They are not interested in their stomach, but they are for the good of the nation. Afterall, if nana addo is their friend, he is only one person. He has given the job to people who are not doing their best and truth must be said.
