Member of Parliament (MP) for Tamale Central and ranking member Legal and Constitutional committee of Parliament, Inusah Fuseini, has appealed to his colleagues in the Minority to soften their stance and consider vetting CJ nominee, Justice Anin-Yeboah.
He says though he has his own perception about Justice Anin-Yeboah who has been appointed by the President to serve as Chief Justice, it is only proper that they go ahead with the vetting process.
" . . I believe that if we follow our parliament calendar we will know that it is only proper, we all come to a compromise and have Justice Anin-Yeboah vetted," he said.
Speaking on Okay FM's 'Ade Akye Abia' programme, he added that there is an ego problem among the majority and the minority but he believes that, there is nothing wrong with vetting the President's nominee for Chief Justice.
"There is some ego problem . . . And it has escalated," he highlighted.
According to him they will meet in parliament and take a final decision on the matter.
The Minority in Parliament says it won’t take part in the scheduled vetting of the Chief Justice nominee on December 21, 2019.
A statement from the NDC leader in the House, Haruna Iddrisu accused the Chairman of the Appointment’s Committee, First Deputy Speaker, Joseph Osei Owusu of unilaterally setting the date, against standard practice.
Mr. Iddrisu said their side of the aisle has nothing against the nominee, Justice of the Supreme Court, Kwasi Anin-Yeboah but they would hold dear the “principle of a strong, independent and diligent Parliament devoid of rubber stamp tendencies.”
Explaining their position, the Tamale North MP said the date set for the vetting is too short and does not give the public enough time to submit memoranda on the nominee.

Just go straight and point out that the minority is having some mushroom MPs who think they have arrived,
THE LABANESE MAN SAID WANZAM WICKEDLY SCRACHED YOUR FACE WITH BLADE. IS THAT CORRECT
NDC IS A CONFUSED PARTY. INCONSISTENT IN ALMOST EVERYTHING. NO COHERENCY BETWEEN THE MPS AND THE ELDERS OR EXECUTIVES OF THE PARTY. THEY ARE DISORGANIZED AND LAWLESS. I HOPE GHANAINS WILL TAKE NOTE OF ALL THIS TO ACCESS THEM AT ANY ELECTION THAT INCLUDES THEM.
Is it not this same Inusah who started the opposition ***barred word***? Now that his kapok-headed minority members are in full swing, he is calling for a truce? Let them boycott.... the man will be successfully vetted. NDC knows nothing else apart from OPPOSING/BOYCOTT. Shame is now their portion.
You started all this now see eggs all over your face. The man was vetted years ago to become Supreme court judge what has changed If they give you one year you will still come up with something else. Your side is not going to ask any sensible questions biara Okudzeto is going to ask questions on secondary school etc. Suhini will go to google but still ask irrelevant questions.
wicked minority always boycott
You were the first to object to the nominee What has now changed? You are very wicked.
