Member of Parliament (MP) for Kumbungu Constituency on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Ras Mubarak says the Minority's walkout during the 2020 State of the Nation Address (SONA) by President Akufo-Addo was a protest against bad governance.
He said that their walkout on President Akufo-Addo should not come as a surprise to Ghanaians as it is the normal practice in Parliament to show the worrisome of the Minority with the happenings under the President and his appointees.
Speaking on Okay FM’s 'Ade Akye Abia' Morning Show, Ras Mubarak insisted that the Minority needed to draw the attention of Ghanaians and the international community to see the suppression they are enduring under President Nana Akufo-Addo.
“Our walkout is not surprising to us. If you look at what is going on in the country it is worrisome and we need to draw the attention of Ghanaians and the international community to see that President Nana Addo is doing things that will not bring peace to the country,” he said.
He added that President Akufo-Addo’s governance is encouraging corruption and causing destruction to the environment, as well as engaging in activities that undermine the democracy in the country.
“You see instances where people who are NDC members are being oppressed . . . we have seen an instance where state security targets individuals who belong to the NDC,” he claimed.
He argued that President Akufo-Addo’s promise to fight corruption in the country has rather gone out of hands to the point where every member of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) is free to do whatever they want.
“The President promised to fight corruption but today corruption has gone out of hand . . . look at the issue of galamsey which he said he was coming to fight . . . his own party members are neck-deep in the galamsey menace to the extent that they are using it as a conduit to finance their political party activities,” he stated.
" . . it was an opportunity to draw attention, not just to the Ghanaian public but to the international community who were represented in Parliament," he stressed.

Propaganda wouldn't help you so you better keep quiet. Come back to Ablekuma and contest again if you are thrown out by your own people. I hope you have stopped beating your wife. Because of your bad interaction with the people you serve you have been kicked out of your seat.
Your points are weak and u/se.less to say the least. You seem not to have any reason for walking out. that is how untrustworthy your party has become. When your John Airbus ford Mahama presided over SUBA, GYEEDA, AKONFEM, BUS BRANDING and JUDGEMENT DEBTS TO WOYOME and the rest, did you people walk out? How does your needless walkout change the situation? Now it is no more about New Voters Register....? come on, you people are not serious at all. You just lack a sense of direction. Your attack on the EC has failed so now you are wobbling and don't know which line of action to take. Cheap politics will not help you. Grow, NDC, Grow.
