"I’ve not regretted my actions . . . what they did is total disrespect to me," says the Ashanti Regional Minister, Simon Osei-Mensah.
A video that recently went viral shows the Ashanti Regional Minister snubbing some caterers of the School Feeding Programme who showed up at his office on Monday, April 3, 2023, to protest over their unpaid allocation.
The Minister has been called out for not having the patience to deal with the situation and that "he could've done better especially as a Minister".
However, Simon Osei-Mensah says he won't endorse illegality.
"The law must work," he said.
Speaking in an interview on Kumasi-based Hello FM, he asked: "Why should I keep talking when you keep shouting? I’m not a vulnerable politician . . . under my regime, we are practicing democracy and the foundation is rule of law, that is what we are going to work with".
"Why are we making politicians vulnerable . . . what are we saying? Because I’m a politician people should take the law into their own hands?"
Listen to interview below
"I’ve not regretted my actions . . . if they come in that form, I’ll do worst; let them come. I won’t tolerate such things . . . I recently called on the police to arrest my son, go and ask my children and my wife . . . I don’t tolerate certain things . . . what they did is total disrespect to me," he said.

Because of votes, any ***barred word*** should be tolerated. Is the minister in charge of the school feeding program? If you keep on shouting how can you hear what minister was saying. All because of votes you should like down for them to walk on you. ***barred word***.
Don’t mind them. Ndc is behind the protests and claims that the money is not enough.
Hmmmm, rather unfortunate. Mr minister you have proven that there is no difference between you and the caterers. You know for sure that majority of the caterers are illiterates and may not know the procedures involved in undertaking a demonstration. As an educated person and a politician you should have accepted their petition and now take time to educate them on what to do next time. If you have a pet at home i strongly believe that pet is not fed on 97 pesewas ( less than 1 cedi) a day much more human beings. These are the very people you will go back to in 2024 to ask for their votes. Maybe you know that even if your party wins the 2024 elections you will not be a regional minister again thus this ***barred word*** behavior. Even appointees in Rawlings PNDC didn't behave this way. If it were the Rawlings era, his wife Nana ko adults would have dismissed you by 8:00pm that very day.Fortunately for you the word " dismiss " is not in the vocabulary of the one who appointed you, the more reason why every appointee in the current administration is a president in his /her office . NPP can't brake the 8 with such empty pride appointees. Unfortunately we have a lot of them in the system now
Hw3 no k.w.a.s.i.a, they voted for you to enjoy as Regional Minister and the n.o.n.s.e.n.se you are say. They will send you to opposition so that you learn common sense. 1111diiot
I am not surprised that the Ashanti regional minister, Hon. Simon Osei Mensah have not regretted his inprudent and undiplomatic actions of snubing the angry feeding caterers. He is one of the arrogant ministers appointed by the leadership of Nana Akuo Addo to govern the people of Ashanti. Its unfortunate for the Ashanti Region. Even in the developed world, various political ministers exercise their duties to the grassroots level with prudent and service. That is why many of the european politicians are respected by the grassroots because of their sense of humour and humility. Your attitude as a regional minister for snubing the angry caterers contradicts the very code of ethics as a politician. Its better for you to resign as regional minister and give peace a chance. This has nothing to do with the rule of law.
Mr minister are you sure it is not arrogance that has entered your head. You see your self as more important than those demanding for their little money for services rendered. These are the very people you go to pleading for their votes. Lets lead with Humility. If you have been chosen among millions to serve, It is not because you are the most qualified. Humble yourself Mr minister.
